5 Reasons Donald Trump Could Do Better Than Predicted
The Federalist ^ | May 5, 2016 | Mollie Hemingway

Analysts predict a blowout for Hillary Clinton. Here's why they might be wrong.

Donald Trump has all but won the Republican nomination to be president of the United States. His fans have long said that he’s the candidate to beat Hillary Clinton and will do so easily. They believe, as Newt Gingrich recently said, that Trump “puts all 50 states in play.” New York candidate for U.S. Senate Wendy Long, who lost her previous campaign for the seat by more than 40 points, says that Trump won’t just get her elected, but “will lift the entire GOP ticket.” Rush Limbaugh says his “gut” is that Trump will beat Hillary in a “landslide.”

People who are less enthusiastic about Trump look at the data and predict an absolute bloodbath. They say that Republicans need to keep the married female votes they have and gain a much larger chunk of single female voters if they want to have a chance at winning the presidency. The analysts say Republicans also need to make gains with Hispanics and other minority groups. A recent NBC/Wall Street Journal poll shows that 47 percent of female Republican primary voters said they would not vote for Trump and 70 percent (not a typo — 70 percent) of women voters in general have a negative view of him. Other recent polls show similar results. A nationwide Latino Decisions poll of registered Hispanic voters found 87 percent had an unfavorable view of Trump. A Washington Post/Univision poll had 8 out of 10 Latinos viewing Trump negatively.

And polls show that while Trump could put formerly predictable states in play during the general election....

Then stop spouting off about a businessman putting his name on his creations. You sound like a jealous idiot. Everyone else does it. Look at all the Jack Nicklaus or Arnold Palmer Golf courses. FACE IT. Gucci shouldn’t have put his name on every handbag, shoe, belt, purse, glove, etc.? Labeling is THE thing. Grow up! And yes you are jealous of big money.

Stop with the jealous stuff. Really. ALL of them have more money than all of us, so its a ridiculous argument, since some of the potential candidates I like, and some I obviously don’t. Stop being stupid.

“I make more than enough not to be jealous of big money.... please, try again.”

Interesting response. She said nothing about money. You did.

You seem to view Trump through a prism which has distorted your capacity to think or express rationally.

Trump may not be the perfect man, but for these times he is the best candidate. You would prefer the rest of the field which consisted largely of professional politicians who most certainly take from American taxpayers and contribute not much in return, Really?

You have Amnesty supporters and Obama enablers, and a bunch of double talking hypocrites who are taking money from corporations who are exporting jobs from here to every which way. Cruz advocated for increasing H1-B Visas exponentially and supported international trade agreements which are devastating our Economy. He borrows a million bucks at good terms but forgets to report the loan with FEC. He forgot he was Canadian as well.

Meanwhile, Trump, for decades has managed to succeed in a minefield of bureaucratic obstacles which require business people to pay up or go home. Trump paid and profited despite their corruption, employing thousands of people in the process.

I can barely get a permit to install a window in my house but in NYC ( and elsewhere,) Trump has navigated every sort of hindrance, including contending with Unions which if you do not know, is often a bitch.

Nothing is unlikely to sway one who is clearly so hostile but keep in mind that you are now in a significant minority, and over the next few months, you are likely to be greatly outnumbered or diminished by the force of this movement.

I’m not the one who threw a fit because Trump put his name on his buildings. You are! So you can stop being stupid.

I had a specific reply to the nonsense that he is ‘nothing but for America’, and I responded that nothing in his history supports that.

Look, you don’t like what I say, fine. But your arguments that I am jealous of him personally are stupid. So, go ahead, and repeat the same stupid statements, because I know that you will.

God, some of you people really are Trumpkins.....

He’s going to solve ALL of your problems, just like Obama solved ALL of the undercard Liberal voters problems....

Yeah.... Good Luck with that.

Let me tell you how he does it. He doesn’t. He has big money lawyers up the ying yang that do all the dirty work. Really, give me a break. Not to mention his products, like nearly everyone else’s, that are manufactured overseas....

True. His talk today matches is talk from twenty years ago: American first, smart business, and low regulations.

“If this election has shown anything, it’s that principled conservatives aren’t in nearly as abundant supply as they might wish.” True. The Federalist, thankfully, is replacing many lame newspapers. Here the author makes a very good point. The snobby people who feel above Trump like Thurston Howell on Gilligan’s Island are discovering that they are a minority. Sweet.

In this case I’m not an idealist, that’s for sure. Don’t worry I prefer him to Hillary though.

Word up!

I’m not jesting. I’m psyched.

By way of explanation, if anyone is interested, Trump is unique in our time as someone who has penetrated, and indeed in this case, conquered, the citadel of Politics from the outside. So go Trump, and may God help us all.

His products? Like Atlantic City? That was a big name maker for him, and a big success. But then the advantage that was given to him, or really afforded to him, in the form of gambling laws favorable to AC, was withdrawn, and he eventually saved himself by selling out. Then, not so long after that, Trump Tower appeared in Chicago. I want this guy on my team, is the thought that I have.

Trump himself has complained, for years about his inability to purchase items made in America for his construction projects. You cannot even buy glass made in America. This is not his fault but he certainly cannot fix by remaining on the sidelines. Meanwhile, nobody else is even trying to or offering to try to.

Whatever, you are clearly poisoned against him. It is almost frightening to think what an actual conversation with you would be like.

As before, enjoy your coming isolation and ‘sky is falling’ outlook which is indeed as pessimistic as any other voice which I have seen post out here.

“When he saw the direction the country was headed and the slovenly UNIPARTY doing NOTHING, he decided to keep his businesses from following the country, he would do something...

“He is going to become president and lift the country back to where it should be and his companies along with it..”

Better than a movie script.

Are you sure about that? My understanding is that his business in AC were not doing well at all, that they were forced into bankruptcy by the creditors, and that Trump was forced to give up control as part of the bankruptcy proceedings.

I'm fine with Trump as the nominee, but everything he has touched has not turned to gold.

“...New York is one of Mrs. Bill’s strongest states...”

Trump is going to sweep New York. Other than the most die hard upper east side liberals, Trump is going to get the outer boroughs (Queens, Staten Island, I even predict Brooklyn), Long Island including Nassau and Suffolk, Westchester, Dutchess, Rockland, and Orange counties.

Upstate will go Trump other than perhaps Hippie Valley (Ithaca) who love Bernie anyway and may stay home. Hillary is not liked - the Occupier types in NYC prefer Bernie - they are are feelin’ the Bern in NYC. The rest (majority) will go Trump.

You heard it from me here first - I predicted way out in front (at least 2 months +) right here on FR that New York State would go easily for Trump in the primary and I am going to be correct on this prediction for the general as well.
