The following paragraph is completely backwards.
This is the last paragraph in your post:

While the US is of course different, I think we could see that effect in November if Trump wins. He would elicit the same type of response that the FN does. Moderate independents and even some Republicans would ensure a Democratic victory. But I’m not sure Cruz would elicit this response. Even though he is historically more conservative in his views than Trump, he won’t be perceived as an extremist. And that’s what should make a Cruz candidacy scary for liberals.

Cruz isn’t at all “scary” for liberals.
Liberals would LOVE to run against Cruz. He is winning virtually no actual votes.
Trump will win cross-over voters, in large number, and will win the presidency.
Cruz will lost, a record-setting defeat to the GOP.
Except, the GOP will most likely dump him, once they can figure out how to eliminate the people’s actual choice, Donald Trump from consideration.
If he Cruz is so scary to liberals why aren’t any of them showing up to disrupt Cruz events? They couldn’t care less if Cruz is the nominee. Liberals all seem to know that Cruz couldn’t beat Hillary if she has to run the country from a jail cell, or spend part of her presidency picking up garbage at the side of the road. His chances of winning the Presidency are about as good as Lloyd getting the girl at the end of the movie Dumb and Dumber. - video clip here:

Dude, you’ve turned into an automated spambot for Cruz. There’s no way you’re doing all this on behalf of a losing campaign for free.
That’s right. I think you’re on the payroll of the Cruz campaign. There are some very dedicated Cruz supporters on this site, but none of them are waging a non stop ad campaign for Cruz like you are.
DUH
The best Cruz can hope for is to run as Romney’s or Ryan’s VP, and then he can try again in 2020 to knock Hillary out of the White House.
cruise missle, prepare for splashdown!
This is how a student at a prestigious university writes? I can’t tell what he is trying to say.
Forty years ago I was a teaching assistant at Fordham. The students were totally illiterate. The university was a fraud. I’m sure it’s unspeakably worse now.
Oh goody. Political analysis from a sophomore in college with no declared major
May as well post some Kathleen Parker
Yeah, life's great when you "end up" the delegates and don't have to suffer through all those voter citizen party members giving their opinion through an open vote. Life's just grand.
We’ll never have another opportunity to really shake up the GOPe/RNC like this again - and Cruz is throwing it away instead of leveraging it for a future run where he could be successful instead of trashing a once in a Nation-Time opportunity.
