Donald Trump likes to say he's running a campaign unlike any other. He's willing to do the things other candidates won't.
Sometimes there's a reason nobody's touching the hot stove.
Today, the GOP front-runner learned what happens when a candidate goes off-script on abortion.
The remarks came while Trump was being asked by MSNBCs Chris Matthews during a pre-taped town hall about the practical implications of banning abortion nationwide. Matthews specifically pressed Trump on the criminal consequences women would face for seeking abortions if Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion nationwide, were overturned.
This is not something you can dodge. If you say abortion is a crime or abortion is murder, you have to deal with it under the law. Should abortion be punished?" Matthews said.
"The answer is that there has to be some form of punishment," Trump said as Matthews pushed him for specifics....

Cruz LIED about Trump saying anything about his daughters!!! Trump NEVER SAID a word about his daughters!!!
Lincoln ran this country over 200 years ago, what was the population then??? Just asking!!!!
Cruz didn’t say he did,.....but he did say wife and children are off limits.
Pays not to knit pick to much over details....facts are Trump DID insult Cruz’s wife....and Trumps wife DID pose Nude for a magazine shoot known and seen BEFORE the election.... That’s just the way it is.
It doesn’t make any difference, he has been played by a pro. They have their soundbite. The context won’t matter. He is on record as saying women should be punished for having an abortion. That soundbite will be made into a devastating 30second commercial that will be played on stations catering to suburban women nationwide. It should be good for a minimum of 15-20% points in November.
Hillary’s campaign probably can’t believe how lucky they are to possibly be running against this clown.
Better check your calendar again. Lincoln was barely alive 200 years ago (born 1809) and didn’t take office until 1861, which was 155 years ago.
In 2012 Obama ran radio ads in Virginia hammering Romney over Todd Akin’s weird ideas about rape and pregnancy, claiming “women can’t trust Romney” because he didn’t condemn Akin enough.
Now the Dems don’t have to string together some BS connection between the GOP presidential candidate and the weirdo. In 2016 they’re one and the same. Hillary gets to run against 2016’s Todd Akin - AKA Donald Trump.
Ironic how many who point out how Trump is ‘alienating women” fail to see that they should be cheering for his statement of common sense - if abortion becomes illegal, then even those who get one should be punished (similar to punishing drug users and drug dealers, but usually to a lesser degree than the dealers). Was even more distressed when I saw that Cruz is trying to leverage this by pandering to the abortion crowd....
I think the #nevertrump folks have found their meme, and they’re gonna keep at it until he beats it or he loses.
I love it that he’s combative. That’s why I believe he would be so great. But real warriors can’t let the enemy get under their skin, and this is now a big test for Mr. Trump.
What's appalling is how his answer causes so much outrage, and this (images of aborted babies) doesn't. How far we've fallen.
