The former president was speaking on behalf of his wife, Hillary Clinton, at a campaign event.
Bill Clinton slammed the "awful legacy of the last eight years" on Monday, which Republicans quickly claimed was an attack on President Barack Obama. However, the former president was really talking about Republican obstructionism.
Clinton was speaking in Spokane, Washington on behalf of his wife, former secretary of state and Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton, calling her a "change-maker" who can "make democracy work the way the framers intended for it to work."
He added:
"Now, if you don't believe we can all grow together again, if you don't believe we're ever going to grow again, if you believe it's more important to re-litigate the past, there may be many reasons that you don't want to support her.
But if you believe we can all rise together, if you believe we've finally come to the point where we can put the awful legacy of the last eight years behind us and the seven years before that -- when we were practicing trickle-down economics and no regulation in Washington which is what caused the crash -- then you should vote for her because she's the only person who basically has good ideas, will tell you how she's going to pay for them, can be commander-in-chief and is a proven change-maker with Republicans and Democrats and independents alike."(continued)

“They created a constitutional republic.”
- Bears repeating.
You need to slow up. I never attacked you and I never suggested you wished anything on anyone.
I never said anything that suggested you hadn’t experienced that sort of suffering. You’re entirely too touchy and took what I said personally when it was not intended that way.
This photo always make me think that Bill might just have popped a blood vessel in his cranium right at the point that this shot was taken.
Ok, I was overly sensitive and I apologize.
It is ok. I’m sorry I was too harsh in my response. I’m so sorry your father had dementia. It’s a terrible illness
It was a terrible illness. He had been so brilliant and funny and caring, and it sapped him so sadly.
Thanks for your response, and I’m sorry you lost your sister recently as well.
You and Husker8877 both deserve praise for demonstrating how mature, loving people resolve a misunderstanding. Thank you both for being such good examples. I hope other freepers who need to become more mature and kind take notice of your exchange with each other and learn to be better people and communicators through your example.
I don’t deserve praise, I haven’t been very mature today. I’ve actually been quite silly and childish today.
But being nice is so much more fulfilling!
Lil Flower, none of us are perfect everyday but you showed love and maturity even when you may not be having the best day. God bless you.
