Donald Trump Says He May Ted Cruz to Disqualify Him: 'I Already Have a Lawyer'
People Magazine ^ | February 16, 2016 | Tierney McAfee

Donald Trump says he's considering suing GOP rival Ted Cruz to challenge the Canada-born Texas senator's eligibility to be president.

"I'm thinking about it very seriously," the GOP front-runner told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America Tuesday. "I already have a lawyer, we're looking at it very seriously, we're thinking about it."

Most Constitutional scholars agree that Cruz, who was born in Calgary to an American mother and a Canadian father, is eligible to run for president. But Trump has repeatedly questioned the senator's presidential qualifications under the Constitution's "natural-born citizen" clause.

"He was born in Canada," Trump said Tuesday. "Lawyers - many lawyers - are saying he doesn't even have the right to run for president. He can't be president because of the fact he was born in Canada, lived there for years. I mean, under that theory I guess Winston Churchill could be" president....

Perhaps it is not comprehension, only memory that needs work. Fully admit memory is not perfect, however it was not I who wrote for national publication. And you?

Trump's game plan is magnificent. Folks have to know that payback is a *itch for anyone who crosses him.

That's not exactly an admirable quality in a Presidential candidate.

ie: you said "payback's a *itch" is not an admirable quality in a Presidential candidate

OF COURSE IT IS. The US needs a President who will do just that. If the strength and will of our President is in question, the US will never come back. Besides that, folks will line up behind a strong leader (1) because of his strength and (2) because there will be consequences for not doing so.

Does anyone believe this. It’s all about threats and keeping this issue in front of the public.

Trump will never sue. He could possibly find a convoluted way to have standing ... although not likely.

But mainly, he does not want this issue to be resolved. There’s probably a 99% chance it would be resolved in Ted’s favor and then the Trumpettes could not keep screaming ‘canada.’

It’s basically all they have.

He will never file the lawsuit.

It’s all bluster.

He’s afraid of what would happen.

Good question: Why is Trump so afraid all the time?

Why does he let everything get to him?

Is he mentally stable?

Every Trump supporter here will tell you that he’s 90 points ahead and cannot lose.

Yet, he’s the most insecure person ever.

Candidates take ads out against each other.

It’s called campaigning.

Trump is not mentally stable enough to take criticism of any kind.

Trump brought the issue up first ...well, mostly first.

He’s been milking it for months.

Do you really think he wants the issue resolved?

I love this line.

“Then Sue you NYC Gas Bag!”

It had me laughing.

Trump’s in a New York frame of mind. I understand he runs home to “The City” every night. One good thing about having one’s own plane.

Why yes, yes it has. Many times. Here’s one:

Rep. John A. Bingham,In the United States House on March 9, 1866 commenting upon Section 1992 of the Civil Rights Act, was

“simply declaratory of what is written in the Constitution, that every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen.”

“It won’t even slow him down. What do you think, that Cruz will have to be in court? He has lawyers for that as well. How many times did Obama wind up in court over the same type of claims? Zero.”

Cruz isn’t Obama.

Sadly enough, Trump has done nothing in the last few days but give more and more ammunition to the Dems.

Does he even realize what he is doing?

Hillary’s so happy she’s barking.

I don’t see this here because I understand it’s grounds for dismissal but on Facebook and other sites I see people saying they will not vote for Trump.

He’s a polarizing figure. He’s turned his supporters into worshippers (not good) but he’s made the rest of the people despise him.

What a great idea for Donald.

And what an impossible idea for him.

For one thing, he’s not really compatible with the views of a true conservative, but the main thing is... Cruz hurt his feelings.

“The best legal minds in the country wouldn’t touch this case with a ten-foot pole.”

I read a long article about that this morning ... about Trump’s ‘standing’ to sue.

The conclusion was that it would require very convoluted reasoning to rule that Trump even had standing.

Hey Trump, stop talking about it and do it already. Enough of this nonsense. Put up or shut up.
