I copied your post because you get it - that is what is happening - we are following the path of Rome. The people are angry and they have found their dictator who makes them think he can, by himself, fix all their problems and kick out all those they are angry at. We have a dictator now who they think is evil, and they want to replace him with what they think is a “good” dictator.
Anger can cause good people to make bad choices.
Angry Mobs usually gravitate towards "good" strongmen who claim to have what it takes to crush bad strongmen. The problem being that man alone, be he emporer or king, is a weak and wicked vessel for liberty based governance to flow from.

What they see as “revenge”, I see as “self-defense”.

I've been seeing "Bernie" bumper stickers pop up in my deep blue (East SF Bay) neighborhood like so many button mushrooms. Very few "Hillary" bumper stickers. Still see a car here and there with a BO/Biden sticker (why?).
This tells me there are plenty of PO'd voters here who'd like a change and for them, "Hillary" is not sufficient, and they are not ready to admit their mistake in voting for BO. I don't know what that indicates in terms of a silent groundswell of support for Trump.
It does seem to suggest that there is a lot of anger, more than people are willing to publicly admit. We may be surprised here.
