Trump thinks he can win without get-out-the-vote operation

Donald Trump seems to think he has revolutionized political campaigns. Without spending much money, he is on top of the national polls but is behind in Iowa and losing ground according to some polls in New Hampshire. Trump is running a campaign without spending money on polling, paid advertisements, or get-out-the-vote efforts. He probably views it as cost-effective, but it may end up costing him the nomination.

His long-promised “next phase” defined by new spending, such as a wave of television commercials, has so far failed to materialize, week after week. His advisers have not revealed the existence of any pollsters on their staff or any advertising team. He has no real research operation to examine his own vulnerabilities or those of his opponents and, based on Federal Election Commission filings, little in the way of a voter contact operation to identify and turn out his supporters.

Mr. Trump had hurt himself in Iowa by not augmenting his news presence with a parallel effort to push his message through ads, mailers and phone banks. “Such an effort would have also inoculated him from attack,” he said....

Opinion.

“he would run headlong into a Democrat slime machine which is extremely skilled in ballot management and fraud.”

So would any other candidate and my opinion is Trump is best equipped on to take that on.

Good list but you need to take my RINO GOPe Boehner-mini-me, Jack Kingston, off it. JK resigned in the House to run for the Senate. Mercifully he lost, so he’s no longer part of the DC-cartel/Permanent Political Class problem.

I’m listening to some weekend style political round table discussion on the radio, and the GOP strategists just don’t get it. Trump’s poll numbers surged when he brought up the dangers of illegal immigration and aliens, and they are saying that that should have brought him down. They are absolutely 100% clueless.

People make the mistake of assuming Trump when Trump is the most unpredictable and adaptable candidate we have ever seen. Trump has cards he’ll play that the status quo never even dreamed of.

The Trump people called me to see if I would help with that stuff in Georgia. They have a GOTV in New Hampshire. Trump is not stupid. He wants to appear to be a magician and sui generis. Nothing wrong with that, but he has an operation.

Trump is not following contemporary political campaigning, yet, he fills 30,000+ seat stadiums and without spending a billion dollars to do it.

I don’t think he needs a “get out the vote” idiot to tell him how to run a campaign.

Trump’s advantage is that he and his team are deploying tactics that are not taught in political science departments and journalism schools.

Re: So... he’s like Romney.

Yeah. I contacted the Romney campaign twice to volunteer in response to their requests for help. No one bothered to call me back either time.

Meanwhile I know the other side made good use of their volunteers. I have seen their machine at work. It was relentless, firing on all pistons, then adding adding in illegal, multiple, and dead voters. They take no chances.

Cruz has been LEGITIMATELY organizing at least since May.

Ha...you are 7 years late.

Trump registered the trade mark "Make America Great Again" a few days after Romney lost.

Trump registered the trade mark "Make America Great Again" a few days after Romney lost.

Which means absolutely nothing in regards to a campaign.

It has been reported that Trump has more hardcore Iowa names and pledges to vote for Trump that exceeds the total number 2012 caucus votes for 1st place Santorum and 2nd place Romney combined.

Cruz is getting hit by several candidates and Iowa special interest group(s), and word may have gotten back to the Cruz camp about how big the support that Trump really has in Iowa. The Cruz camp maybe panicking some and has schedule a big 36 county push through Iowa for early January. See here - click.

I have been involved in politics since I was 16, I haven’t seen anything like this since Reagan.

” But not everyone who shows up at a rally is going to take the trouble to vote for Trump”

And for every person that goes to a Trump rally and then doesn't vote for him, there are 10 people that didn't go to a Trump rally but will vote for him.

Instead of mailers that go into trash and or irritating phone calls , he mails out treasured Christmas cards that will be shared with friends, family and neighbors during the holidays.
