Ted Cruz, plus assessing Speaker of the House Paul Ryan’s first month on the job.
Brooks says Republican Senators would rather vote for a Democratic Majority Leader than "universally unpopular" Ted Cruz.
JUDY WOODRUFF, PBS NEWSHOUR: When it comes to Trump, David, I know we have been talking about him, but this week, with the statement about keeping Muslims out of the country, is this just more of the same of what we have been hearing from Donald Trump, or are we hearing something at a completely new level?
DAVID BROOKS: I think it’s a different level.
The man is a genius for attention, an addict of attention, and therefore a genius of getting it. And so this I think is a different level for a couple of reasons. First, it is bigotry of a naked sort. The Mexican stuff was bigotry, too, but this strikes me as a higher level.
Second, an offense against religious liberty. And, third, because of the way Trump has now risen to prominence, it has reverberations around the globe, in the way the stuff even he said earlier about Latin Americans didn’t...

However, due to the early indoctrination of our youth to liberal My Little Pony, everyone-is-a-winner, overly sensitive, rainbow unicorn garbage, I am afraid. Just the other day, I saw a worksheet in a social studies teacher's desk which asked students if they would vote for Hillary or Bernie, and why. Although I searched, I saw NO worksheet asking about Republican candidates. Two students I queried about this project said that they favored Hillary and Bernie, respectively. I asked the student who said "Bernie" why. "Because we would get our college education for free," was the reply. And, I asked, who is paying for this? They could not answer. Another gibsmedat mind set brought about by a lib teacher (which I am decidedly NOT). I asked the students if they'd ever heard of all of Hillary's "exploits", starting with Whitewater and proceeding through Vince Foster, Benghazi, etc. No, they'd never heard of any of this. And yet some of them are old enough to vote! Scary!
If Trump damaging our reputation around the world is framed over the last 7 years, I can’t say I’m displeased.
David Brooks has to be one of the biggest dumbasses on the face of the Earth. How he draws a paycheck for the crap he spouts never ceases to amaze me.

Sean Hannity had a caller on his radio show the other day who was a retired defense contractor.
This caller said he had lived in the Middle East, and stated that religion is only a small part of Islam. Under Sharia law, every aspect of your life is strictly controlled and the penalty for not complying is, in many cases, death.

No David, the real damage was done to 3000 civilians on 911, massacre of unarmed military at Fort Hood, massacre of civilians celebrating Christmas in San Bernardino, among other terrorist violence by radical Muslims.
There is no bigotry here and nobody liked us before Dolald Trump got on the stage. This is a completely fallacious argument.
