How Cruz wins Iowa, and the nomination
American Thinker ^ | December 10, 2015 | Fritz Pettyjohn

At Nate Silver's 538.com, they describe the Republican electorate as a five-ring circus, composed of Libertarian, Tea Party, Evangelical, Establishment, and Moderate voters. A candidate who can bring three of the rings together will be the winner. Ted Cruz is the one who's doing it.

With his pastor/father Rafael leading the way, Cruz has taken the lead among Iowa religious voters away from Ben Carson. Their affection for the fervently Christian Carson is not enough to overcome his obvious weakness as a commander in chief. Santorum and Huckabee are his other competitors in this ring, and neither has Cruz's money or organization. They're going nowhere, and evangelicals like to go with a winner, just like everyone else. Cruz now has this bloc firmly in his grasp, and he's not letting go.

Marco Rubio is Cruz's main competition for the Tea Party ring, but Rubio is not putting in the time schmoozing with them that Iowans believe they're entitled to. Cruz has a far superior organization in a state that greatly rewards it. While Rubio seeks to bridge the Establishment/Tea Party divide, Cruz revels in denunciations of the Republican power elites. He's Tea Party, born and bred, and it's paying off....

Indeed he is. Cruz demonstrates his capabilities in leadership, strategy, and an understanding the importance of a ground game.

Do you think posting the thread 100 times will make Cruz get the nomination? :-)

Hasn’t it been pointed out many times here that an Iowa winner does not the nomination bring?

Cruz “secretly” recorded today in a private meeting:

“I like and respect both Donald and Ben. I do not believe either one is going to be our nominee. I don’t believe either one is going to be our president. I think both of them, their campaigns have a natural arc. And with both of them I think gravity is pulling them down … Carson is further in that descent. You look at Paris, you look at San Bernardino, it’s given a seriousness to this race, that people are looking for: Who is prepared to be a commander in chief? Who understands the threats we face? Who am I comfortable having their finger on the button? Now that’s a question of strength, but it’s also a question of judgment. And I think that is a question that is a challenging question for both of them. So my approach, much to the frustration of the media has been to bear hug both of them, and smother them with love. People run as who they are. I believe gravity will bring both of those campaigns down, I think the lion’s share of their supporters come to us.”

So Cruz is running a close second in the Iowa polls like 23% to 25%. When that number inverts I’ll be a believer otherwise on caucus night Cruz is a 2 pt loser.

Trump is going to have a fleet of SUV’s or vans picking up his folks and driving them to the caucus events with a bag lunch and then taking them back home again. He will probably provide babysitters. :-) If Cruz isn’t doing that he’s toast. You have to practically physically carry these people on your back to the voting place.

There is nothing significant about a conservative/evangelical winning Iowa.
That won’t impress anyone.
When a moderate wins Iowa- that’s impressive!
Iowa will be a pyrrhic victory if Cruz wins it at the cost of moderate’s support.
The media will celebrate him if he “BEAT TRUMP!” in Iowa for them, but not to his advantage LOL!

Of course he should do the best he can everywhere, but doing really well in NH and SC is very important for him.

I don’t post the same thread 100 times. As a matter of fact, I hardly ever post duplicates, even though I’m at 31,105 threads as of right now.

Trump supports a temporary ban on Muslim immigration & Cruz does not. That’s what has changed my mind about Cruz’s chance at winning Iowa. As far a Cruz crushing everyone in all the caucuses...there are no signs, Cruz will win any of the states...I know you want Cruz to win...but you need to come back to reality bro.

SC open primary is dramatically more moderate than Iowa’s caucus.

Note I do not put moderate in quotes. I mean real moderates.

I don’t care what Cruz said back then...now he is saying he won’t agree to a temporary ban on Muslims to America. Cruz is dead wrong.

Notice how that diagram doesn’t allow for the conservatives and moderates to interact?

That is just the error in commentary on this election.
Trump has conservative and moderate support for his positions and the media won’t say or even think that because they ... just... can’t LOL!
Moderates are not supposed to want immigration laws enforced.
