MADISON âToday, Representative Subeck (D-Madison), along with Representatives Terese Berceau, Melissa Sargent and Chris Taylor, circulated an Assembly bill that would ban the transportation, purchase, possession, or transfer of semiautomatic assault weapons in Wisconsin.
âOur nation has watched as community after community has had to confront the tragedies that occur when weapons designed to kill large numbers of people quickly get into the hands of a dangerous person,â said Representative Lisa Subeck. âNo Wisconsin community should ever have to face such a tragedy at the hands of someone armed with a semiautomatic assault weapon.â
Semiautomatic assault weapons are a class of firearms that are designed to kill large numbers of people quickly. They have been used in many high-profile shooting incidents, including the 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut; the 2012 Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting; the 1999 Columbine High School massacre in that state; and the 1993 office shooting at the 101 California Street building in San Francisco.
âI can conceive of no legitimate reason that any citizen should need to own or use a semiautomatic assault weapon,â said Rep. Subeck.
A review of mass shootings between January 2009 and January 2013 by Mayors Against Illegal Guns found that incidents where assault weapons were used resulted in 135% more people shot and 57% more killed, compared to other mass shootings.
âWisconsin families want to know that they and their children are safe whether they are home, at school, at work, or out in the community,â said Rep. Subeck. âThis bill is one of several critical reforms needed to eliminate gun violence in our state.â

POSSESSION..!
hahaha, that’s funny. Like it will really pass.
"...ban the transportation, purchase, possession, or transfer of semiautomatic assault weapons in Wisconsin."
Good luck with that, sweetie.
Dear Ms. Subeck. You cite several mass shootings as a reason to ban weapons. But in every case that you cite, guns were already banned, one way or another, from being carried by law-abiding citizens, in those places where the shootings happened. What would make you think that more bans elsewhere would make the shootings in those other places, when the bans already in place where the shooting did already occur, did already occur? If the only people getting sick are those taking a certain snake oil medication, you wouldn’t require that medication everywhere else, would you? Gun bans are snake oil, and it’s killing people. Don’t mandate snake oil to others, when the ones taking your gun-ban snake oil are already dying.
Why oh Why don’t they Ban Dangerous People ????h
“Why oh Why donât they Ban Dangerous People ?”
Like Representative Subeck?
.... And... did they happen to study the effectiveness of gun-free zones?
To be a Democrat one has to have an IQ within a specific range, or take a stupid pill to qualify.
The Commie ‘RATS still trying to disarm the American people. LOL!
These gun-grabbing bitches should get their facts straight.
The FBI’s own statistics show that more people are murdered every year by hammers than with semi-automatic rifles.
More people are killed with fists than semi-automatic rifles. More people are killed with feet....kicked, stomped, etc. More are killed with knives.
Remember the names of the four idiots mentioned in the above article. When the SHTF, don’t even offer them a crust of bread or a glass of water.
The bill, which Subeck said will be introduced in the coming weeks, would ban the sale, transportation or possession of assault weapons except by on-duty law enforcement and military personnel. State Reps. Chris Taylor, D-Madison, Terese Berceau, D-Madison, and Melissa Sargent, D-Madison, joined Subeck in proposing the legislation.
The bill would make owning or selling such a weapon a felony punishable by a fine of up to $10,000 and a maximum of six years in prison, or 11 years if the crime occurred in a school zone.
“I can conceive of no legitimate reason that any citizen should need to own or use a semiautomatic assault weapon,” Subeck said in the statement.
I hope Democrats everywhere start shouting about confiscation.
Maybe it’ll wake some people up about what the true end goal has always been.
Stupid cow.
Go do some needlework or something.
Better yet, fix me a sandwich and bring me a beer.
Does anyone doubt that this Democrat would SEIZE your firearms, if given a chance?
This is why Democrats are ALWAYS DANGEROUS, even if they put on a pretty face once in a while on gun control.
Good.
Heh. It’s that sticky problem of “possession” that isn’t going to go or end well, for the state or the Citizens.
Didn’t a New England state try that a year ago, and everyone just ignored it? Or am I thinking of the multi-cap mags?
I doubt that it will...but don't forget that Madison, WI is the epitome of Liberalwackoville.
But then, there's IS San Francisco...and Seattle...and New York City...and, and...well, you get the gist.
Screw these damn fools.
They are about to declare CWII.
Hey Lisa -
No.
I think NY or CN (maybe both) required registration, but few actually did it.
