The Republican presidential race could be about to get a lot smaller

Former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania gets agitated when political analysts question why he is still in the race for the GOP presidential nomination when he is scoring less than 2 percent in the polls and has barely raised $1 million in campaign funds – a pittance compared with many of his rivals.

He notes that when he ran for president last time, he had little money and low single-digit standing in the polls in January 2012 – just before he went on to beat Mitt Romney in the Iowa caucuses.

This time, Santorum is so far behind the large Republican presidential field that the Pennsylvania Republican will be lucky to make it past the Iowa caucuses next January. With a record 17 Republicans seeking the 2016 presidential nomination – currently headed by real estate tycoon Donald Trump – the winnowing process is likely to begin soon.

In the wake of last Thursday’s stormy, doubled-barreled GOP presidential debates, two of the contenders – Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry -- appear to be losing altitude....

“I had to hold my nose to vote for both. Not this time...”

ditto. i’m done with the gope. don’t care if hillary finishes off the country, as only an outsider like Trump would POTENTIALLY make a difference anyway. We know for sure that the Republican branch of the Uniparty hasn’t done one damn thing to stop one damn iota of the obama/progressive/kommie agenda. in fact, if one of the gope insiders is the nominee, i would be DELIGHTED to see them slaughtered in the general election because the gop “base” they are so disdainful of turn their backs on the sobs.

You’re so right. I forgot about his FOX show. Well, there are other big hitters out there and Huck is looking to hitch his wagon with one of them.

Yes he was, and had Romney won the nomination in 2008 we’d have had better candidates in both 2008 and 2012.

Jeb will never beat Trump. He’s got to go out there and raise money - Mr T. doesn’t. Trump just has to stay on his current trajectory, and he seals it. Not what anyone expected.

Romney was a better candidate than McCain.

Only in the sense that one of my goldfish would be a better marathon runner than one of my house plants.

Bush already has a ton of cash in the bank. And Bush also has the crooked RNC in his pocket to rig the votes and pick the delegates. And an infinite supply of dirty tricksters. What do you think that RedState crap was last weekend?
