Mitt Romney's backing helped several candidates emerge from a crowded primary field and be successful in the 2014 midterm elections. He's aiming to do the same for presidential candidates in 2016.
Many observers expected Mitt Romney to slink away from politics after his defeat in the 2012 presidential election, but the former Massachusetts governor has instead embraced a new role as an elder statesman and kingmaker within the Republican Party.
While he has shied away from open campaigning, Mr. Romney has taken to tacitly supporting the more moderate, establishment-friendly candidates in a packed and ideologically tangled field.
Romney, who flirted with a third presidential run early this year, fancies himself a mentor to the candidates hed most like to see occupy the White House in his stead, wrote Kyle Cheney and Kenneth Vogel in Politico.
In June, Romney said on Meet the Press that his biggest mistake in 2012 was not connecting minority voters with conservative policies, and he encouraged current candidates to prioritize reaching out to these populations....

One has to be a King to be a Kingmaker.
Romney is a proven loser...twice.
LOL, GOPee Kings? W was the last of the dynasty.
I wish Mutt would jump in again. I enjoyed voting against him so much last time.
Yes, and who would turn to a loser for advice? The GOP voters need to start thinking for themselves and stop listening to those who promote the status quo, big government, and crony politics.
Oh good grief. What sin did we commit to end up with King Romney a/k/a King of the Losers?
Just another Fabian socialist and always has been and is still a has been.
Sleepover at Mitt's: Christie, Rubio bunk with Romney at N.H. retreat
Mitt would probably make a good Treasury Secretary. He should be advising about business items, like RomneyCare. And hedge funds. And Wall Street.
Who better to take advise from than a twice-proven loser?
Romney meets some candidates.

lol Perhaps.
Why can’t this loser just go away?
Willard is “an elder statesman” ???
Spare me...
Romney should have learned from McCain's loss. McCain courted the Hispanics and illegals far more extensively than Obama, had special meetings with them, called them "God's children" or some other nonsense. Yet still they voted for Obama. McCain, like Romney, failed to inspire their base, and many who would have voted Republican stayed home.
Romney's own poorly run campaign should reveal that he is not the one to give advice. Romney even went out of his way to alienate voters in South, with his unnecessary attack on the Confederate flag.
and ways to hide money off shore...
Romney has won a single election that he won with less than 50%, in his more than 20 year career, and he served that single term as a failure and had to give up his goal of reelection, leaving office with 34% approval and turning the seat over to the democrats.
Romney ran against nobodies for 2008 and lost to two guys with no money or organization after he broke spending records and spent 50 million dollars of his own money, then in 2012 he squeaked it out as America kept desperately rotating among his nobody challengers for someone besides Mitt, then he lost the election against Jimmy Carters second term, an election that was almost impossible to lose, and it wasnt even close.
“let me check out that file on candidates...I have the note book right here...
What? The dog must have chewed it up...”
Who is dumber Mitt or Rove? I think they are brothers.
