Never mind the however many other Republican candidates in pack: former New York Gov. George Pataki wants to go mano a mano with Donald Trump on immigration.
Last week, Pataki called on fellow Republican presidential candidates to condemn Donald Trumps comments about Mexican immigrants during his campaign announcement.
Trumps quote: When Mexico sends its people, theyre not sending their best. Theyre not sending you. Theyre not sending you. Theyre sending people that have lots of problems, and theyre bringing those problems with us. Theyre bringing drugs. Theyre bringing crime. Theyre rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.
Since the mid-June comments, Macys, Univision and NBC have dropped relationships with Trump.
In a letter addressed to the rest of the Republican flock and ccd to Trump Pataki wrote that news coverage over the language used by Donald Trump to describe Mexicans has left me and a lot of other sensible people wondering what century we are living in.
As Donald Trump doubles down, Im asking you to join me in standing up, he said. Stand up for our party, for the ideals that made America great, and stand for the basic decency and integrity entitled to every American, no matter their heritage or nationality.
Trump lashed out on Twitter, saying Pataki was a terrible governor of NY, one of the worst wouldve been swamped if he ran again! and couldnt be elected dog catcher if he ran againso he didnt!
Today, at a roundtable with reporters in New Hampshire, Pataki challenged Trump to a one-on-one debate.
Donald Trump has a lot to say about the problems with illegal immigrants, but aside from name-calling Mexicans and hurling insults at me and some of our other opponents the American people have yet to hear anything resembling a real plan, said Pataki.
I say, lets go mano a mano on immigration policy. Lets get past the name calling and have a real substantive discussion, he added.
Patakis campaign said the governors plan will provide a process to gain legal status for only those who have obeyed the law, paid taxes, not been dependent upon government services and have been here for a number of years. Illegal immigrants would also have to perform at least 200 hours of community service as restitution for breaking the law initially.
Pataki capped off his challenge with a tweet en Español to The Donald: ¿Oye @realdonaldtrump, porque no paremos los insultos y vayamos mano a mano en la póliza de imigratión?
How about a Debate on what you’re going to do for US citizens
Who’s Pataki going to get to stand in for him?
These pro illegal immigration crooks need to be hung for treason.
That silly b!tch wishes Trump would give her the time of day.
A RINO against “T”-Rex .... this I wanna see...LOL!
Will the media attack Trump’s hai- er uh cotton candy comb over?
Who in the heck is this guy pataki, and what sort of brain-washed violet does he think we all are?
Trump is completely right.
100% right.
ROTFL.
pissant Pataki needs publicity.
He’s not in Trump’s league.
Go piss up a rope George Pataki.
This just in...... Giant to debate flea.
Go away Patookey... you are just a flyspeck on the body politic.
This would only benefit Pataki. Trump should not do it as he is in the top tier. Pataki won’t even make the cut for the real debates!
Will Sub 1% Pataki even make the debates? LoL.
Like Trump tweeted, .........
.@GovernorPataki was a terrible governor of NY, one of the worst wouldve been swamped if he ran again!

“Whos Pataki going to get to stand in for him?”
He and Richard Simmons are going to tag team him.
Lol!
Pataki is like a little kid standing in the corner shouting,”I’m over here,I’m over here!”
I can’t stand when all these gringos think “mano a mano” (usually they pronounce it mano ee mano) means man to man, or one on one. It means hand to hand, as in combat, as in fistfight. Is Pataki suggesting a fistfight? I doubt it. He’s just a stupid liberal New Yorker.
Sounds like “Talk to Me...Anyone...Please”
Pataki has a campaign? Who knew?
Nobody thinks George Pataki should be President. He can take votes in NY state, that’s the extent of his usefulness.
I find it funny that Pataki needed to use a Spanish phrase to issue Trump a challenge on immigration.
