Ten reasons to not vote for Senator Ted Cruz (Or 10 more reasons TO vote for him?)
The Examiner ^ | May 22, 2015 | Bob Knudsen

Senator Ted Cruz was the first Republican to officially announce his campaign to run for the presidency in 2016. Since coming onto the national stage he has been a very high profile and outspoken member of the Senate and has very strong name recognition and support among conservatives in the country. Hailing from Texas, the largest Republican-leaning state in the union and the only large population state that is all but guaranteed to vote GOP, his campaign is enticing for the promise of how many electoral votes he can deliver. He is also the first major Hispanic candidate to run for president, which may help attract the key voting block. On the surface, he seems to be the most electable Republican in the current field.

However, Cruz does have several major drawbacks. He is extremely conservative compared to most of the country, which could do him some major harm in the general election. Still, he seems to be the current frontrunner with other candidates like Mike Huckabee being a liability from both the right and the left, Rand Paul lacking widespread appeal, and Marco Rubio being woefully out of touch with both the electorate and reality. Add to that Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson, who are more or less joke candidates who have little to no chance of even carrying a single state, and you have Cruz appearing to be the strongest candidate currently. Having said that, if he gets the GOP nod he will have to contend with either Hillary Clinton, who has so much baggage she could start a luggage company (which would probably be used to launder money anyway), or Bernie Sanders who is so far to the left that he’s coming back up around on the right.

Political realities aside, Cruz won’t be the next president....

I hope he has a good explanation for voting to give Owebowmao Fast Track Trade Authority.

Sessions is right about this bill, I was stunned to hear Cruz voted yes.

Well I kind of put my pom poms down yesterday when my prince voted for cloture on the trade bill. WTF? I am not getting over it today. Did Ted think we would not notice?

18 months out, and the left is already quaking in their boots over the prospect of a President Cruz.

That’s about the best endorsement I can think of.

Ted is the perfect guy for the left to yell, "please don't throw me in that brier patch" about, all the while desperate to end up in the brier patch so they can make a Republican out to be the reincarnation of Herbert Hoover and totally responsible for the collapsed economy.

Best of all, his ego makes him easy to bait, something you can see he's being set up for already, and something that makes for the very best sort of patsy. That's why the left is "afraid" of this particular Republican one term Senator.

He and Jeb have the only professional, well-oiled machines but he's not an establishment guy.

What a joke.

Nearly as good as the joke that Ivy League Princeton/Harvard Ted isn't part of the Establishment.

JMHo, YMMV

“He claims Cruz is too conservative, like that’s a bad thing.”

People no longer know what real conservatism is, and Cruz is the man to teach them. Once they understand it, they will vote for it.

Especially after 8 years of extreme lefty policies furthering us on the road to fascism. Even those who don’t understand the Coward-Piven plan will see the stark contrast between the democrat’s plan and Cruz’s plan to set America back on the right course.

We need to keep in mind the difference between cloture and passage votes, but I’m curious about Ted’s reasoning on this one - and if he thinks it acceptable to create such a bill in secret.

The explanation Cruz put out yesterday for his vote is just not acceptable. In most of these bills lately voting for cloture is the same as voting for the bill. He has indicated he is actually going to vote for the bill. I was not thrilled that he voted for the Iran nuclear bill. Couple that with the trade bill and he’s kind of screwed the pooch with me and Mr. GG2.

Personally I think Ted is probably trying to snag some big donor and he needs to placate their interests.
