DURHAM, N.H. In five of the last six presidential general elections, including the last three, the Democratic nominee has won New Hampshires four electoral votes. Thats not a sure thing for 2016, according to the results of a new WMUR Granite State Poll.
Hillary Clinton trails or is in virtual ties with Republicans Jeb Bush, Rand Paul, Scott Walker, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, the poll of 706 randomly selected adults shows. Thats a sharp change from just three months ago, when the former secretary of state held comfortable leads over all five of those announced or likely candidates.
The decline in Clintons showing in head-to-head matchups since February mirrors a drop in her favorability rating even among likely Democratic primary voters from a plus-74 percent in February to a plus-58 percent in the new poll, taken April 24 to May 3.
The new poll, conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, also shows that Granite Staters are aware of the controversy surrounding Clintons exclusive use of a personal email account to conduct official business, although most said it would make little difference in their votes.
The poll shows that former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio fare the best against Clinton among the top five candidates in this weeks GOP primary poll.
Bush leads Clinton 47 to 41 percent, while Rubio leads her, 47 to 42 percent. Bush holds a strong lead over Clinton among independents, 39 to 22 percent, while independents are split between Clinton and Rubio, with Clinton leading 33 to 31 percent.
The margin of error in the poll is 3.7 percent.
Granite Staters also favor Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul over Clinton, 47 to 43 percent, with independents favoring Paul, 43 to 36 percent. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Clinton are in a dead heat, at 44 percent each, with independents favoring Clinton, 36 to 28 percent.
Voters are also split between Clinton and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, with Clinton leading, .
46 to 45 percent. Independents are split among the two, with 37 percent favoring Clinton and 35 percent favoring Cruz.
The poll further showed that 45 percent of likely general election voters said they have heard a great deal about the Clinton email use issue, while 32 percent have heard a fair amount, 14 percent have heard a little and 8 percent have heard nothing.
But 59 percent of those likely voters said the issue makes little difference in their vote, 34 percent said they are less likely to vote for her because of it, 2 percent they are actually more likely to vote for her and 4 percent were unsure.
The results show a wide gender gap, with women heavily backing Clinton over all five Republicans and men strongly supporting the Republicans.
Among the likely general election voters, 10 percent said they have definitely decided who to support, 18 percent are leaning toward someone and 73 percent are still trying to decide.

If Clinton is tied, when she is the main contender and the Republicans have split their support, it likely really means that she I doing poorly.
I think Hillary is beatable. Were it not for the automatic EV advantage Democratic candidates have these days (i.e. a lock on California, Illinois, and most of the NE states), I’d say she could be outright crushed in a general election by a strong (i.e. not Jeb) GOP candidate.
Speaking of Jeb...I think having him as the nominee over Cruz, Walker, etc. would represent Hillary’s best chance of victory. He might be polling well now, but once America gets a look at him, I don’t think they’ll like what they see. He’s wrong on so many issues, but he’s also not very personable. Everytime I’ve seen him speak, he has come off as a bit of a boor. (A bit or bore, too, but mostly a boor.)
Just my two cents, of course.
Jeb is going to be carrying some heavy baggage around with him on the campaign trail. Fact is, he’s a brand name and his brother seriously damaged that brand and I think the left is hoping to exploit that brand weakness. Jeb is the candidate the left most wants and they’ll vote for him in open primary states to get him. he’s their win-win candidate.
So far I think Walker is the best candidate but we’re a long way away. Lotta talent on our side though.
I see HC, eventually, dropping out of the race, and then, Senator Elizabeth Warren “decides” to replace her, while acting like this is some sort of obligation that Liz must do. Maybe I’m wrong about this, but I see this move as a possibility.
Hillary has not even begun to use her $2.5 billion in advertising yet. And, she only needs to spend in a handful of states, so it is more like she will have twice that amount to invest in GOTV and advertising.
With one exception, the current Republican field (especially the GOPe types - Bush, Walker, Christie and amnesty types - Rubio) does not stand a chance against Hillary. She will crush them.
Only a True Constitutional Conservative who has stood up and FOUGHT Obama can motivate the millions of disaffected conservatives to come back to the voting booths and defeat Hillary. That man is TED CRUZ!!! Go Ted!
Ted Cruz Ping!
Daily Digest Ted Cruz Ping! Exactly so.....she couldn't win without them eliminating any to run against her on their side. And nobody wants to mess with the tactics they use to oppose her...so they've laid a clear path for her. It's the only way they have a chance to win this.
You have done a WONDERFUL job with the Ted Cruz Daily Digest Ping! thank you so much for the hard work it must take to consolidate these articles and make them available to us.
Thank You SO much!
(((HUGS)))
Thanks, it means a lot!
I tell it like it is! ;-)
Taxpayers are struggling and Hillary has a $2.5 billion spending "limit"...and no opponents, as yet.
Americans should be asking---why does this tired, over-the-hill political retread need $2.5 billion to get a job worth about $2 million w/ perks and free plane rides?
It's classic Clinton election MO---***-kissing as many voting blocs as possible.
God knows what blood and gore she'll throw the genital-sniffing rubbermaids over at Planned Parenthood to assure them "aggression over the unborn" will continue apace...and is her prime interest. Maybe she'll endorse post-birth abortions as the true measure of her abortion worship.

PEGGY NOONAN OBSERVING HILLARY IN ACTION: "Never in modern political history has such tenacity and determination been marshaled to achieve such puny purpose: the mere continuance of Them.....unprincipled narcissists in a WH thoroughly penetrated by the political left."
Hillary is precisely the wannabe the Founders guarded against---a power-monger with an army of acolytes, lying in wait to undo the govt that protects everyday Americans and our freedoms.
