Republican strategist and MSNBC political analyst Steve Schmidt gave Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Pauls presidential run announcement speech a rave review, calling it nearly flawless and incredibly sophisticated.
SCHMIDT: Look, I think this speech was very nearly flawless. It was a superb announcement speech for a president. You saw somebody who attached optimism to conservatism and saw someone articulate a big tent Republican message.
When you look at these fiscal issues, including symbolically the foreign aid issues to countries like Pakistan I think all of the issues he talked about have tremendous resonance in these early states. And lets not forget; the motto of New Hampshire is Live Free or Die.
As I was watching this, I had one feeling going through or thought through my head. He has achieved liftoff; hes going to be a major player in the Republican nomination process. This event was beautifully staged, that speech was incredibly sophisticated, he touched all of the buttons. And the notion that Rand Paul is running as a dove I think was refuted by this speech. He articulated
a conservative national defense vision very consistent with Eisenhower and Reagan.
Was this the same speech that they earlier said called for all thieves and murderers to be set loose?
Barf!
must have been the same speech which stated that “Any law> that disproportionately incarcerates people of color is repealed.
yea OK , Steve, you and I know this is all about open borders, no foreign policy, homosexual agenda and drugs.
[Was this the same speech that they earlier said called for all thieves and murderers to be set loose?]
The very same speech being filtered through the ears of MSM.
This is what the media did for Romney. They bigged him up and once he went against a Dem they brought him back down.
Paul is a loser and the media knows it. Notice how they attacked Walker and Cruz like they did with Sarah? Why? Because they are a threat where as the likes of Paul is a joke to them and the country as well as his voters.
Nothing but one syllable words ?
Snake Steve Schmidt, appropriately an MSNBC analyst, is no conservative. He only spins this "flawless" meme because he knows Randy is a loser but hopes he'll deflect attention from Cruz.
Rand Paul is not as electable as Ted Cruz, but plays for much of the same base.
Ergo, why the MSM is propping him up.
I’m a lot more open to Rand Paul than many here at FR and I thought his announcement was badly orchestrated and amateurish when compared to Cruz.
Cruz set the bar and Rand came in well below it.
I’m confused.
Saying something was “very nearly flawless” is saying that it was flawed, is it not?
Devide up the vote = Jeb Bush wins?
Shoot, I thought he was running for president...
NEXT!
“This is what the media did for Romney. They bigged him up and once he went against a Dem they brought him back down.”
yep.
NOT ACCORDING TO STEVE SCHMIDT, HATER!! /s
Whack a mole: first they have to build a man up then they cut him down.
Pass me the popcorn.
When those morons start touting Cruz, then I’ll know I picked the wrong guy. But until then? I’m on Cruz control.
They will do anything to vault one or more candidates past Cruz. Only Cruz threatens the oligarchy.
What’s Schmidt up to? Must be looking for a campaign job.
