(CNN)Ted Cruz is going on Obamacare.
The newly announced Republican presidential candidate told CNN's Dana Bash on Tuesday that he will sign up for health care coverage through the Affordable Care Act -- a law he has been on a crusade to kill.
"We'll be getting new health insurance and we'll presumably do it through my job with the Senate, and so we'll be on the federal exchange with millions of others on the federal exchange," Cruz said.
Asked whether he would accept the government contribution available to lawmakers and congressional staffers for their health care coverage through the ACA, Cruz said he will "follow the text of the law."

I hope this gives him legal standing to sue. I’d guess it’s well thought out.
Gotta use it before you can say it sucks...
Obama is going to have fun making use of his death panels now.
Yap, and Cruz can tell the media he is talking from first hand experience. Most media elites probably have Cadillac healthcare insurance, and have not had to deal with Obamacare on a personal basis.
“Asked whether he would accept the government contribution available to lawmakers and congressional staffers for their health care coverage through the ACA”
How about, “I’ll follow the lead of Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and the rest of your buddies on that, Dana.”
Yes, expose the hypocrisy of democrats, loud and clear. Most Americans have no clue about the details of how DC politicians get their healthcare.
The media will use this to portray Cruz as a hypocrite, whereas he’s just following the law.
Cruz is on Levin right now...his position is super solid..he’s totally standing on principle...his critics are gonna get destroyed by trying to call him a hypocrite on this.
Critics = low informational voters news suppliers.
They can’t, because Cruz is NOT going to take the subsidy available to congress critters.
As I speak, there is an article in the Seattle Times that reads like a DNC press release. It fails to mention Cruz’s reason for signing up - the law REQUIRES him to - but also includes DNC talking points hinting at the “hypocrite” subtext. And one of the first comments below the article took the cue and said, “What a hypocrite!”
Exactly....More over it is what must happen since he is a senator and they have to use the exchange but with heavy subsidies. Cruz has said he will not take the subsidy. His wife has left her job to spend full time on the campaign as an unpaid volunteer. Hence the family now needs to have his health care.
As Cruz pointedly said on Mark Levin’s show tonight, he pays his taxes even though he is working hard to get the tax law changed. He is complying with the law as it currently is not as he wants it to be.
We are self employed. We signed up with an insurance agent then on the ACA marketplace. IN the process we found out that all policies are routed through the government marketplace. Don’t like it but that is the way it is. The media are insulated little yippy dogs that don’t really know how the world works. All they know is how to play gotcha or cheer a loser as long as they are liberal.
Walk the mile in the shoes of thy constituent.
“The Affordable Care Act, by design, helps Americans who have gaps in employment get coverage, and it’s working,” Democratic National Committee spokeswoman Holly Shulman said. “We encourage others to follow presidential candidate Ted Cruz to www.healthcare.gov and get covered.”
(The article also talks about his other options other than Obamacare.)
Isn’t it amazing how the left is very quick to pull the hypocrite accusation out of their pocket,
but somehow they are absolutely immune to it?
Two reasons - rejection of logic, agenda uber alles.
