To them, the Republican primaries are a series of single-elimination brackets where the four GOP leaders who best represent the party’s libertarian, establishment, social conservative and tea party wings will survive as the field winnows. Cruz will vie for the support of the tea party electorate, his advisers say, but will fare well enough with social conservative and libertarian voters to assemble a powerful coalition.

It’s a war of attrition and Cruz is well equipped for a war like that in theory. A chunk of the party sees him as the True Conservative in the race and will likely hang with him for months after voting begins. He and Rubio are often compared to each other but they’re in opposite positions to start: Cruz has an obvious niche on the right to fill, which makes him a contender in Iowa and South Carolina, whereas Rubio somehow has to cobble together votes across the spectrum while leapfrogging Scott Walker as the candidate who can best unite the party....

Nobody here wanted Romney but he got 10 million of the 19 million R primary votes in 2012, mostly because he had the dough.
Well, I’m a semi-shut-in who can barely walk, but I started raising $2 million dollars for Ted Cruz today. Remember Fred Thompson?
The paul$h!+$ pull many more stunts like today and Rand can KMA even if he the last Pubbie standing.
A conservative message, clearly stated. Wipe up the floor with his opponents at the debates. Adequate funding. And the nomination is his.
Plus Romney had broken spending records running and building his name in 2008, including up to 45 million dollars of his own money.
I see Fred all the time on CNBC/FoxBiz/Bloomberg doing commercials for “AAG reverse mortgage”
I hate to be the oe to point out the left is setting up a trap with Cruz. They already have their federal judges lined up just waiting to rule he’s ineligible (regardless of law) after nomination but too late for anybody else to get a good run going to win.
The only way to circumvent it is to get the USSC to issue an opinion early that negates this trap. Barring that they WILL do the worst they can as late as they can to do the most damage regardless of what others claim the law is at this time.
I think he tried. Just a little short of backbone.
I raised about $40,000 for him. Not my fault that he bowed out.
Ted is one of the ten best constitutional lawyers alive today. I’m guessing he already thought of that, don’t you?

Yes Fred was a disappointment. I’m sure that won’t happen with the Cruzer, he’s in it for the distance, and like Romney in 2008 may be looking to take his first step to a nomination some day. At age 44 he’s got many years to achieve it.

You presume that he would get a fair judge when it comes to a head the first time. All they have to do is wait till after the nomination and get a liberal judge to trip him up then drag it out till after the election.
