* It was 'when he was a teenager,' Cruz's spokesperson told Daily Mail Online; 'It was a mistake, and he's never tried it since'
* Rick Perry, Donald Trump and John Bolton say they have never smoked pot; Rand Paul hints that he 'wasn't a choirboy' but won't answer directly
* Marco Rubio refuses to answer, saying no one will believe him if the answer is 'no'; Carly Fiorina will only say she opposes legalizing weed
* Spokesmen for Govs. Scott Walker and Gov. Chris Christie, and former neurosurgeon Ben Carson, ignored questions entirely
* Bush told the Boston Globe on Friday that he had smoked pot as a teenager at his elite prep school
Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz smoked marijuana in his youth, his campaign told Daily Mail Online on Tuesday putting him in the same camp as former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who acknowledged his high school pot-smoking days on Friday.
'Teenagers are often known for their lack of judgment, and Sen. Cruz was no exception,' a Cruz spokesperson said.
'When he was a teenager, he foolishly experimented with marijuana. It was a mistake, and he's never tried it since.'
The spokesperson wouldn't elaborate about how many times Cruz had tried the illegal drug, over how long a period the experimentation occurred, and exactly how old he was at the time.
Daily Mail Online asked spokespersons for 10 likely Republican presidential candidates whether their bosses had ever lit up doobies, smoked bongs or otherwise tried weed. Seven of them responded....

AT least he admits it was dumb and wrong.
If he didn’t he would lose my vote.
I thought it was Jazz musicians.
Straight out of the Alinsky playbook, “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.
Those two sects you named have plenty of dope smokers within them, don’t kid yourself.
That’s not an “admission” that’s a lie to make it palatable to folks who still haven’t figured out reality. Most of the country smoked some dope in their youth and then moved on with their adult lives. Heck many continue to smoke into a adulthood and are successful.
Jack probably went out to a bar and had a few drinks with Harry Morgan right after shooting that scene.
At least with them it’s a valid question, maybe they always followed the rules of their religion, maybe they didn’t. Everybody else assume they smoked some as a teenager and move on.
If a Conservative says they never tried drugs they paint them with the “too niave” brush, if they tried it once they try to paint them with the “He’s a druggie” Brush, meanwhile the current Dim President did far worse drugs and ADMITTED TO IT IN BOOK, not just once usage but PROLONGED brain melting usage!
Of course the old “everyone does it” excuse.
I thought jazz musicians preferred heroin, but then again, rock stars seem to love that too.
Looked at the stats lately? It ain’t an excuse. It’s a reality. There’s a rather small percentage that never at least gave it a shot. It’s kind of like having guns in the household, in America assume they do (or for drugs did) and move on.
Yeah, big deal huh? Weenie liberal reporter: “Well Mr. Cruz, will you please tell us if you ever smoked weed?” Ted C. “Sure! Sure did, darn right I did baby!!!!....Had Dark Side Of The Moon or The Zep cranked on my 8 track with chicks all over me! Those windows were so smoked up I needed a razor blade to scrape ‘em clean the next day! Okay, Next question fool”..................GO TED GO!!!!
But did he sell cocaine? That’s what makes him presidential material.
“Only rock musicians are allowed to smoke dope.”
Nope! Country musicians too. I felt it hurt my performance and quit 30 years ago. I’m a pedal steel and lead player,,,, retired.
Nowadays I don’t trust or believe anyone who said they didn’t try it.
libertarians are like child molesters and I will treat them the same way, and move on
Or, tried it "just once", or "didn't inhale" etc.
It's BS and the politician cannot see that all of us know it's BS.
So did I back in the 70s....then I grew up.
