Sarah Palin to campaign for Bill Cassidy
Politico Magazine ^ | November 12, 2014 | Burgess Everett

Sarah Palin did not support Rep. Bill Cassidy during Louisiana’s Senate jungle primary last week. But now that it’s between Cassidy and Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu, the former Alaska governor is changing her tune.

The 2008 vice-presidential nominee plans to appear alongside Cassidy, “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson and defeated conservative Senate candidate Rob Maness at a GOP unity rally on Saturday afternoon in Monroe, according to a source familiar with the event. The Palin visit follows a Monday event with Maness, Cassidy and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) in Baton Rouge.

Palin supported Maness in the primary and predicted that the underdog candidate could shock the country and advance to the runoff. Ultimately, Maness garnered 14 percent of the vote as Cassidy and Landrieu advanced, a greater amount of support than Cassidy predicted during an interview in October. Cassidy will need some of Maness’s voters to turn out on Dec. 6 after finishing with 41 percent of the vote last week to Landrieu’s 42 percent.

Maness is trying to draw his conservative supporters toward Cassidy now that Landrieu is the only opposition. For those efforts and because he pulled in 200,000 votes, Maness is now being chattered about in Louisiana as a potential future candidate for state office and has been praised by state Republicans that previously scoffed at his candidacy.

GOOD on Sarah Palin!
Maybe she’ll bring her Duck Dynasty friends.

This is very good news, last night I was looking at the 2002 runoff and Landrieu pulled off a victory because she got an increase in turnout, and the republicans didn't all return to the voting booth.

She hasn’t “changed her tune” as they so flippantly reported. It’s a new race. She’s supporting the Republican against Landreau.

Good for her. I remember the RINO’s not fully supporting the likes of Sharon Angle and the lady in Maryland as examples. Sarah is head and shoulders above the RINOs.

The right unites to beat the left! There will be a place for Maness in the future—Governorship maybe?

Good point but I think the dynamics are different this time. First of all, I believe the LA electorate are tired of this carpetbagger. Secondly, Cassidy fared very well last Tuesday compared to what happened in 2002, But your point about not taking this for granted is so right on.

All true, and the numbers are much better also, but they do need to be reminded that it could turn.

Here is some more comparison.

In 2002 Landrieu started at 46% versus 42% this time, and Terrell had 27% with a total of 51% GOP votes against Landrieu, while Cassidy had 41% straight up with a total 56% GOP votes against Landrieu.

She is in deep trouble, but you know how it goes, the dems are “resourceful”.

Palin didn’t support Sharon Angle either, until she became the nominee, just like in this race.

I voted for Maness, but will vote for Casssidy.

I look to Maness to run for Vitter’s seat, when Vitter openly runs for governor, as he been suggesting that he woulld do.

Mind you, there is also a run-off for the 5th Congressional district, too.

Cassidy is overwhelming Landrieu with ad buys. Dem organizations have pulled funding for her. Still, a resounding defeat would send a powerful message.

Haven't heard the Bushes endorsing their old friend, the Crook, this time around.

I just hope and pray Casssidy wins, and I truly hope he wins in a landslide.

I’d love to see Mary lose “big time.”

I honestly don't see "Little Mary" getting out of the 30 percentiles.

Ain't going to be close.

I hope you’re right.
In fact, I’m praying you’re right.
Is it true the Rats have pulled campaign money from her and she can’t buy TV ads?
