Turning out the working class white vote is crucial for the Republicans in 2016. Some are touting Chris Christie as the solution, but the Marsist-McClatchy poll suggests otherwise.
Christie gets 17% of the vote for the $50,000 and over group among Republicans and those who lean that way, but only 5% for the $50,000 and unders. Those are extremely striking and shocking numbers. Christie is well known, especially after Sandy, so this can’t be a name recognition issue.
It’s not a RINO issue either.
Jeb Bush is at 18% among the under $50,000 and as 12% among the over $50,000. Again something that needs to be looked at. It might be the association with George W. Bush, but there might be some part of his message that his opponents might consider adapting for their own use.
Ted Cruz does twice as well among the under 50K and doesn’t even register among the over 50K. Again not surprising....

The thought process of wishful thinking is always interesting.
I'm sick to death of the terms "working families" and "working Americans." As soon as I hear that buzzword, I tune out. (note to any conservative pols out there!)
Christie is unpopular with anyone born with a brain or spine.

Christy reminds working class folks of an a-hole boss.
This guy put $250 million (corporate welfare? cronyism?) into a casino that the developer didn’t even think was worth completing and didn’t stay open but a year or two.
He can’t even pretend to be a fiscal conservative, so what is the selling point exactly??
What is Christie went on Oprah or more likely Sean Hannity, and confessed; ‘Yes, I screwed up Mitt’s chances at the 11th hour of the Election Cycle in order to curry favor with Obama. Why? Because I didn’t think the Media would allow Mitt to win anyway, plus Mitt did not make any promises to me in case matters like ‘BridgeGate’’began to unravel. Both Mitt and Ann say they have forgiven me. Why can’t the Gee-Dee Tea Party let this go? Is there really no compassion on the right?”
If the referenced poll concerns Republican "patriot" voters then the disturbing aspect of Sen. Cruz's popularity is the following imo. Many middle class patriots evidently still have not been brought up to speed on to the federal government's constitutionally limited powers and associated limited power to lay taxes.
After all, one of the very few powers that the states have delegated to the feds to regulate intrastate commerce on a near daily basis is the US Mail Service, evidenced by the Constituton's Clause 7 of Section 8 of Article I. But is the quality of the US Mail Service really a major concern of conservative patriots?
So do conservative, middle-class patriots still regard constitutionally indefensible federal taxing and spending programs as a way to make their lives a little bit easier?

I’m still puzzled by the results of this poll so I searched out another story on it, I’m just as puzzled. I also read the link at the frontpage magazine.
Of course it is very very early but note the last paragraph per McClatchy Marist Poll:

MY estimation of the working class just went up by a massive amount.
When the Left refers to “working families” or “working Americans” the people they are referring to do not work, they collect from the taxpayer.
