Chris McDaniel, who lost a runoff election to incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.), is not giving up. Not only has he been raising money to mount a legal challenge to Cochrans victory, the state senator and radio host is now offering $1,000 to anyone who comes forward with evidence of electoral shenanigans in last weeks vote. It seems that McDaniel doesnt understand how this whole thing is supposed to work. I wouldnt be surprised if even some of the people who supported him in his campaign to unseat Cochran start distancing themselves from him before long.
This has nothing to do with the merit of McDaniels claim of thousands of voting irregularities and a stolen election. Its about how the tea party works and what its tactics are meant to accomplish.
Chris McDaniel wanted to go to the Senate, and the people who supported him wanted that, too. But just by making the runoff, McDaniel served his purpose for the tea party, which was to maintain the appropriate level of fear among Republican elected officials. After some primaries in which Republicans easily dispatched challenges from the right, Eric Cantors loss and Cochrans near-loss have put the fear of the right back into Republicans in Congress. So for the tea party, its mission accomplished. At this point, the tiny chance that McDaniel might actually prevail in a lawsuit doesnt make it worth their while to fight for, particularly given that the longer he keeps up this battle, the crazier he looks and by extension, the less reasonable he makes his supporters look.
Im not saying that everything is about appearances for the tea party and that they dont have policy goals, because they do. But they understand that electing committed tea partiers is only one way to achieve those goals....

Truly, they do not know us, do they?
You remember the lengths that Al Bore went to when he lost to GW. MSM was screaming that it was God given American right to ccontest the election.
There are more people who voted for Cochran or supported Cochran who would switch to McDaniel.
The only people who are openly pro-Cochran are Wicker, Cochran and Barbour. The others are saying nothing.
It is bad timing for them with the 2015 gubernatorial. It is not going to be as easy to turn out enough Democrat blacks in some of the State Senate races.
Just babble from a DC insider.
My advice to Chris, continue to expose these frauds as much as you want.
Never had a clue.
"At this point, the tiny chance that McDaniel might actually prevail ..."
They're worried.
Does this guy actually know tea party activists? Does he know its not an actual party??
This is prolly how the lib media thought of Reagan and they were just shocked he won.
For a “party” with no leaders, no structure, nobody registered (yet), the TEA party sure makes a lot of noise and causes so much consternation.
As Mark Twain said: “The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.”
Who is this jack hole?
Yeah, but that was a Demonrat challenging an election result; Republican challenges are outrageous, kooks lookin to stir up trouble, dontcha know?
Obviously there are a lot of Liberal Dems that may be taken down in ThadGate
As Marc Levin say ‘The Washington Compost’, it is a paper that is not worth for toilet paper or wrapping fish in.
“Please don’t throw me into that briar patch!,”
One obvious reason is that if McDaniel proves rampant voter fraud in the run off the Lefts cries that there is no reason for voter IDs is proven false.
What the left doesn’t understand about the Tea Party: They’re surrounded.
That's why I don't use the "tea party" label. It has been hijacked by people who want low taxes, but will abandon true conservatives when it comes to just about everything else. After the Brat victory, they're fighting back like wounded animals would.
We're better described as constitutional conservatives. The Cochran crowd and his 'pub and other enablers don't support us, not at all.
No clue.
Let’s hope they don’t catch on.
In time, we’ll prevail.
