MSNBC host Chris Matthews was baffled Friday night by the GOPs choice to invite Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson to speak at the Republican Leadership Conference.
Matthews told his Hardball audience that the GOPs showing up with this guy from Duck Farm or whatever is part of the problem. Theyre playing to people who have rebel license plates on their cars. Thats who theyre talking to with this character.
I guess the GOP is more desperate than I thought to call someone like me, Robertson had told the audience at RLC on Thursday.
MSNBC commentator Michelle Bernard joined Matthews in slamming the GOPs choice of bringing the Duck Dynasty star as sticking to the white racist in the country.(continued)

” Theyre playing to people who have rebel license plates on their cars”
He says that like it’s a bad thing.
BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!
I carry the same rebel badge George Washington carried .... what’s the problem, Christine ?
Mike “Moron” Savage was railing about it Thursday. Don’t know why I bother with him...
Coming from Funny Farm guy Chris Matthews this is a hoot.

Where do these boneheads get the notion that Phil Robertson is a racist ?
I guess they think all rednecks are racist.....does that include all these black rednecks....
But Christine Matthews would feel uncomfortable saying that openly.
Isn’t Chris Matthews the host of Whiffle Ball or something?
Never forget that Chris Matthews was once successfully replaced by an orange traffic cone, and could be again.
Has anyone told her about Phil's black grandson?
Theyre playing to people who have rebel license plates on their cars
And that comment isn’t one of the worst examples of profiling and prejudice that one can imagine?
I grew up in a large northern city, have never lived in the south, and can say that attitudes like Matthew’s are all too common among the ‘I’m educated, don’t have an accent, and therefore must be smarter than those yahoo’s from the South’ crowd of Northerners.
This isn’t about the civil war, or the confederates, etc. This is about the idea that anyone who doesn’t put sociology over religion, and who doesn’t hold the same mindset depicted in John Lennon’s “Imagine”, is just ‘not smart’. It’s about thinking that those who think differently than the left are ‘just ignorant’, and that their convictions couldn’t possibly have any credibility. It’s really no different than racism based on skin color. No different.
From his Esquire interview.
I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. Im with the blacks, because were white trash. Were going across the field . Theyre singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, I tell you what: These doggone white peoplenot a word! Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.
And right on cue, White Liberals who have never set foot in Louisiana, nor grew up in his time, immediately claimed that Phil was saying blacks were better off as slaves.
Funny, he doesn’t look old enough to have witnessed chattel slavery.
Of course, it’s all part of he their script
Nope, it is not.
For myself, I thank God that I was born into “ignorance”.
I cannot imagine the horror of living with their kind of “intellect”.
And Phil is right.
Yes, the extremely inconvenient ~Willie Jr~., no less.
[I wish that they would adopt me]
:)
Thanks for the help, Tingles. Now kindly pizz off...
/directed at Mathews, obviously
Isn’t this the same guy who said that Barack Obama was bored with his job as President, that it just wasn’t “big enough” for his remarkable talents? Well, five years later we have massive unemployment and underemployment disguised by phony Labor Dept. numbers, slow or no growth, ridiculous standing overseas, a disastrous healthcare plan whose mess is evident already at the VA. I could go on, this must be due to the boredom Matthews saw in a man whose talents demand bigger jobs, cause he sure ain’t doing this one.
