Hes a 42-year-old freshman senator, but when asked by Jonathan Karl on This Week if hes ready to be president, Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida answered without hesitation.
I do but I think thats true for multiple other people that would want to run I mean, Ill be 43 this month, but the other thing that perhaps people dont realize, Ive served now in public office for the better part of 14 years, said Rubio. Most importantly, I think a president has to have a clear vision of where the country needs to go and clear ideas about how to get it there and I think were very blessed in our party to have a number of people that fit that criteria.
When asked if he was qualified to run, Rubio reiterated that the Republican Party has several qualified candidates.
The question is what whos vision is the one that our party wants to follow? he said.
Rubio who spoke to Karl on Friday in New Hampshire said that if he decides to seek the presidency, he would not simultaneously seek re-election as a senator for the Sunshine State.
I believe that if you want to be president of the United States, you run for president, he said. You dont run for president with some eject button in the cockpit that allows you to go on an exit ramp if it doesnt work out.(continued)

And then we’d have a Latino Romney. Write me and tell me how that works out for you as I sip cocktails on the beach far, far away from here.
Nope, not mine.
Pretty close or worse because at least Romney actually ran something successfully. Right now I favor only 3 candidates...Cruz, Walker & Rand. But I may not get my wish. If Jeb is the only "moderate" and no other moderate remains in the race after Iowa, HH & SC, Jeb is your nominee.
The scenario being discussed is Jeb picking Rubio. The presidential candidate wouldn’t change his home state. It would be the prospective Veep candidate who’d have to change residence. As far as I’ve ever heard/read, Rubio has been a Floridian his whole life.
Cheney was late to TX, and only moved there after leaving Washington to head up Halliburton that was based in TX. For most of his life Cheney was a legal resident of WY, that he’d represented as the state’s only Representative. His changing his residency back to WY wasn’t in the same category as it would be for Rubio. What state could he claim? VA or MD, wherever he lives while serving FL in the Senate?
So you’ll vote for Amnesty as long as a Republican is pushing it. Thanks for the clarification.
+1
I hope he can’t find many that would let him be President!
Exactly.
Then keep your powder dry, because if you’re right, and I fear you are, then the only alternative at this point is using the Second Amendment for its original purpose.
Perry would be better than Romney redux, Rubio, Christie, Santorum, Pawlenty, or Paul.

I never said I was supporting any of those guys. See my tagline.
Where are you getting that stat from?
Given that a good percentage of those illegals are in fact Muslims disguised as Latinos, those numbers are off.
The Governor has more power than you understand, but it is also true that the Lt. Gov. is far more powerful than is typical because of his legislative role. I don’t know what your sources are, but the debates occurred while he was still recovering form the surgery. He was no more addicted to pain pills that you or I are. I had a roommate in graduate school who had been a QB at Division I school. He had back problems less severe than recovering form spinal surgery, and I have never seen someone so incapacitated.
I didn’t forget about McConnell; I just don’t see it as being nearly as important as you do under circumstances. If I were going to criticize Perry, I’d pick something better, such as the HPV vaccine episode. Perry is great on 2nd Amendment, abortion, spending (to the extent he can restrain the RINOs in Austin), taxes, and state’s rights. The WSJ has an editorial today in which a Perry appointee to the UT Board of Trustees is being gone after by the “good old boys” because he has exposed corruption. Perry is standing with him (as the WSJ points out) against the University of Texas. For a politician to oppose UT in this state takes courage.
I still prefer Cruz, and maybe someone else really good will come along. Perry, however, is far better than he is given credit for on this forum. It was the circular firing squad mentality that gave us Mittens. There is too much mindless enthusiasm for candidates and too many mindless attacks on reasonably good, but flawed, conservative candidates on FR.
There’s certainly a lot of folks in the GOP who insanely welcome such a thing.
That said, why hasn’t it actually happened? Could this all be bluff and stuff?
Given that a good percentage of those illegals are in fact Muslims disguised as Latinos....

On yeah. Everyone I met seemed very Mid-Eastern to me! And, in other news: It has been reported that Martians have been abducting people in your neighborhood and planting chips in their brains causing them to make crazy, conspiratorial statements.
