Gone is the sunny, compassionate candidate of 2008. In the run-up to 2016, the former Arkansas governor is downright angry. Hes learned his lesson from his last campaign, ex-aides say.
In 2007, Mike Huckabee stood impassively on a Republican presidential debate stage while Mitt Romney tried to embarrass him. A program that Huckabee had instituted in Arkansas gave undocumented immigrants brought to the United States as children the right to in-state tuition at Arkansass public universities.
Huckabee sounded, Romney said, like a Massachusetts liberal. Are we going to give taxpayer-funded benefits to kids that are here illegally and put them ahead of kids that are here legally? he asked.
Huckabee explained that the kids who benefitted were brought to the U.S. as children, that they had spent all their young lives in Arkansass public schools, and that, in many cases, they had excelled. He alluded to his own storygoing to work at 14 as a local radio host, working his way through Ouachita Baptist University in two and half years.
Let me finish, Mitt, he said when the former Massachusetts governor tried to interject. In all due respect, we are a better country than to punish children for what their parents did. Were a better country than that.
It was one of the more remarkable moments of the 2008 campaign. Here was a presidential contender not pandering to an anti-immigrant crowd but shaming his party and, for that matter, his nationto be better. Rare is the candidate who cuts against the grain of party orthodoxy; rarer still is one who uses the campaign to educate and persuade the public....

I noticed some time back that Huckabee built a six million dollar house in Walton County, Florida just South of DeFuniak Springs. I guess he wants to be close to a beach.
I am sick and tired of illegal aliens and their fans demandingspecial priviledges.
Excellent point.
I will vote for anyone against Hillary-except for Jeb.
DannyTn seems to favor illegals imo
I haven’t seen an old fashioned Zot in a while. I would like to see one lol
DaNnyTN agrees with a socialist. Mike Huckabee is the socialist from Arkansas , PROOF:

With what little respect is due to the Huckster, isn't punishing a kid who moved in to Arkansas from, say, Wisconsin by charging them out of state tuition doing the same thing? After all, how was it their fault that their parents lived in Wisconsin?
Well aparently our presidents from both parties don't understand the "il" part of "illegal". Because neither have been willing to enforce immigration, close the border and deport them.
But given that they have been allowed to stay here in some cases more than a decade, then they should be treated right. And making them pay out-of-state tuition, when they have been living in state for many years, is oppression.
I don't think Huckabee was advocating giving illegals who recently moved to Arkansas instate tuition. They had to meet the residency requirements. So assuming the requirements was 4 years. Then an illegal who moved to Arkansas 4 years before going to college would be eligible for in-state tuition, the same as a citizen who moved from Wisconsin 4 years before going to college.
If they hadn't lived in Arkansas for at least 4 years then neither the illegal nor the Wisconsin are eligible. If they don't meet the residency requirements than neither gets in-state tuition. That seems fair to me.
You really are a liberal aren't you?

Yep. Here's the argument today: Illegals reside in-state, so let's give them in-state privileges (in-state college tuition, a driver's license, etc).
Soon the argument will be: Illegals reside in-state, so let's give them the right to vote and hold office.
Then American citizenship will become meaningless.
Actually, I want to close the border and deport the illegals.
But if you are going to let them stay here, like we have, then you don’t need to oppress them. Letting them live here for 10 years and then charging their kids higher rates to go college than others, is oppression.
Was Mike Huckabee just like Bill Clinton? Maybe, but some would actually say he was to the left of Bill Clinton. As Governor of Arkansas, Huckabees tax and spend record greatly exceeded former AR Gov. Bill Clinton. He even wanted to tax the internet.
Mike Huckabee: The SOCIALIST from Arkansas:

The NEA is a radical left wing teachers association. They aggressively oppose homeschooling, are hostile to parochial schools, and advocate federalizing the curriculum of all public schools. As Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee passed a law that added major restrictions to the Arakansas Homeschool Rights Act passed by Bill Clinton, making Arkansas one of the most hostile state to homeschoolers outside of the Northeast. Homeschoolers in Arkansas had more rights when Clinton left office than when Huckabee left office.
Mike Huckabee was the keynote speaker at the 2007 NEA national convention!
Tks.
One "Dope from Hope" was already too many.
Scripture is pretty clear....
Exo 22:21 Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
Exo 23:9 Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
If we let them stay here, we are not to oppress them.
We either deport them or treat them right. No second class citizenry in America.
That's not vexatious.
But invaders aren't strangers, and only a liberal idiot would confuse the two.

Define “oppress”?
You are therefore making a perk available to an illegal which isn't equally available to a citizen of another state for the same reason.
How many years of illegal residence in Arkansas the illegal alien enjoyed prior to college enrollment is not AND SHOULD NOT BE relevant.
If you cannot punish the kids for the (il)legal status of their parents, then you ought not to be able to reward them either.
The only way this could work fairly under a 14th amendment challenge is to offer the same rate to legal residents who move in as is offered to illegal residents already there.
You need to be careful about quoting bible texts. There is no moral equivalence between the invaders from south of the border and the enslaved Jews.
Only a liberal moron would consider the two equivalent.
