If you have known me for 30 minutes, you are probably aware that one of my all-time favorite movies is 1985s "Real Genius."
In "Real Genius," Val Kilmer plays a super-smart college kid at a high-tech California college. A 15-year-old enters the scene with even higher test scores, and hilarity ensues.
The story behind the one-liners and sight gags is that these college students are being use in a military research projects one of their professors is using for his personal gain. They are developing efficient high-powered lasers.
Of course, the super smart kids never considered what purpose the laser would have, they just created it.
Then they found out the laser could be used to vaporize human targets leaving no evidence behind.
The movie is a comedy, but I bet it scares Sen. Rand Paul to death.
For more than 13 hours this week, Paul has filibustered the Senate action on the nomination of John Brennan as CIA director to replace Leon Panetta.
Paul has criticized and offered concerns about President Barack Obama using his killing machines from above.
In the movie, the laser was operated by a person on a piloted plane. But Obama has unmanned drones that he could use to kill anyone even Jane Fonda.
Are you going to just drop a hellfire missile on Jane Fonda? Are you going to drop a missile on Kent State? Paul asked as he filibustered.
Fonda had to be wondering what she did to find herself back in the headlines this week. After all, she hasnt criticized the military recently unlike during the Vietnam War and she isnt even married to Ted Turner anymore which could have been more traumatic than living through the Vietnam War.
Paul went on to not call Obama Hitler, thus placing the idea that Obama is Hitler in all of his followers minds.
Im not saying that anyone is Hitler, dont misunderstand me, he said as he continued hours of speaking without so much as a bathroom break....
The author.
Real “sweet” tie ya got there, buddy.
Huh?
I’m constantly amazed at how many Americans are dumber than dirt.
I’m constantly amazed at how many Americans are dumber than dirt.
My local newspaper is also owned by Gatehouse Media, a failed and virtually bankrupt operation that can’t afford to hire any bigger brains that ones like this. It’s a penny-stock outfit on it’s last legs before all their debt comes crashing down and when it does, “real geniuses” like Kent Bush will be driving a beer truck and doing their blogging for the Observer.
and so it starts, yet again.
A republicans with guts speaks up and gets some decent exposure,/traction and the media get together to attack , just like they did to Sarah and Rubio
same here.
In CFA last night and a black woman was serving me and then started to tell me how Piers Morgan was great and why was he hated in England.
After I told her how he lies etc she told me how he can;t do that here because thye have fact checkers on CNN.
AAARGGHH.
She then told me how England does everything right, I;m from England and so I told her that the health care sucks and gave her examples of my family need care and how a girl from my town came to Jacksonville for a few months to get cancer care for their 10 year old daughter.
This is her reply and I quote
“well Canada has good health care”
I swear I felt like throwing the chicken spicy sandwich at her but instead walked out saying you have noidea what on earth you;re on about.
The left always want the dumb fools and the country to be stupid because it;s how they get votes
Rand Paul appears able to operate outside the tiny box the author has constructed around his mind.
I am a big advocate of unmanned vehicles. In this case the drone is really being used as a proxy for any use of the military against an individual, especially without due process. Drones have a couple of advantages when used by a dictator: The ability to place the operator under continuous threat and persistence. Other entities come and go; allowing free movement when they are gone. Some drone operations (with more than one drone) can easily maintain a 24 hour constant watch 7 days a week.
This is what happens when your preemptive peace prize winner can’t say he won’t kill Americans.
Cognitive Dissonance
Sounds as if the author only saw an opening to mock and ridicule, when he should have recognized an attempt to point out that once these weapons programs are unleashed upon the continental US, they will not always be under the control of an administration of which he approves.
But, of course Republicans have had the same problem, having initiated and cheered the very DHS that has by all appearances now taken an alarming turn to the left, regarding many conservative constituencies as potential terrorists.
Say what you want about Rand Paul, but at least he took an unmistakable, highly visible stand against this. It’s clearly wrong to anyone with one iota of regard for the American people and our founding principles.
OK, the author just went full retard. You don't go full retard.
I think of the Hutaree “militia”.
They were accused of doing exactly what the administration says would justify using drones to kill Americans on American soil. Fortunately Obama couldn’t use the drones to kill them first and every last one of them was found to be not guilty. The leader was elected constable in his hometown in November.
Drones would have saved the embarrassment of taking those guys to jail and then having the judge slap the feds around for a trumped up fantasy case. Its so much easier to kill first then convict.
Does he have a side job as a used Prius dealer?
BTW I personally think we’re overusing the drones overseas. Drones have their place but it becomes easy to use them when it isn’t justified.
I could accept killing Bin Laden and his family with a drone but when you kill a guy in a car .... and everyone in traffic around him, it starts creating a moral itch for me.

.
But there is still lots of room in the box!
I’m amazed that you’re amazed. Have you been out in public and seen these people?
