Already over. We just aren’t ready to admit it yet. The real cliff wasn’t financial, the real cliff was freedom, it went over the cliff. Only years of misery and the realization that the sheeple were duped could bring it back.
I think the UN has won. Anerica is just a place on the map, it has no concept of a nation state left.
I respectfully disagree. Nearly 70 million people own guns in the U.S. Anyone who thinks that small arms are useless against a large military has not been paying attention to a little place called Afghanistan. It has effectively repelled the two greatest super powers of all time with small arms.
I think it is over already nation wide- but the states still have power, and my state is not even close to giving up.
Don’t close up shop, or get despondent. Just get active in your local and state politics , and make some noise.
Influence anyone and everyone that you can locally. We still are hugely powerful.
The America we knew is over- BUT what we can build may be even better, based on the lessons we learned.
This country is now like an old aircraft whose wings are full of cracks and corrosion. Sure, it keeps flying, it looks pretty good, and it chugs along. But every day the cracks from corrosion and stress get bigger and more and more metal and beams get worn out and over stressed. And the cracks almost imperceptibly expand. Nobody wants to take the time and effort or spend the money to fix them or replace the bad parts.
Yet she continues to fly.
Then one day (all of a sudden) a sharp turn or a bit of unexpected turbulence over stresses a cracked and damaged wing box. The left wing shears in a split second and snaps off catastrophically, without warning. The fall from altitude is rapid, fatal, uncontrollable.
Nobody saw it coming? Wrong. There was plenty of warning. A lot of people knew it might be coming but put off the required inspections, maintenance and overhauls. The overworked mechanics were screaming their heads off that repairs must be made. Once they were minor but now they are major. But there was simply too much money to be made by the crew and their greedy friends and employers. Nobody could foresee when that excess small amount of stress would be on that wing, causing it to utterly fail. It's always kept flying before. Why wouldn't this flight make it too?
That is about what it will be like. The once fine new machine, engineered and built by experts who carefully wrote the maintenance and instruction manuals (now mostly ignored as "out of date"), is now a tired old overweight bag of corrupt, bankrupt, corroded, overstressed metal and fiberglass... just waiting for the final fatal stress to occur. Nobody knows when that will be. Nobody. In fact, they have been flying it so long there are those who say it will never happen!
Meanwhile, the current crop of eager pilots are yanking and banking gaily on the controls, trying to get some more airspeed and hours out of her while they get handsomely paid for their stewardship of this old lady. The stress cracks slowly get larger but they don't figure the Bad Thing will happen on their shift. After all, there is a lot of money, power, and perks to be had for those in the cockpit and their friends and employers who are profiting handsomely.
They just hope the wings stay on until after the next crew takes over. Then it's not their problem.
One day they won't. They just won't. The failure will be unforeseen. After all, she has weathered thousands of other higher "G" turns and thunderstorms safely before, hasn't she? But on that day, in that moment, she over stresses beyond the fatal limit and the cracks cascade.
The end will be very quick, violent, ugly, total - and "unexpected".

On another thread, I have posted a portion of Rev. Benjamin W. Arnett’s “Centennial Thanksgiving Sermon” in celebration of the Declaration of Independence in 1876 at the St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Urbana, Ohio. It can be read online at the LOC, American Memory Section, in the Alfred P. Murray African American Collection.
With reference to America's Christian foundations, Rev. Arnett, an Ohio Legislator, historian, and Black Methodist Minister had something to say about the Oath of Office, as well as the philosophy which underlies its significance. Here is a section of that Sermon:
‘Our ancestors,’ said Mr. Webster, ‘established their system of Government on morality and religious sentiment. They were brought hither by their high veneration of the Christian religion. They journeyed by its light, and labored in its hope. They sought to incorporate it with the elements of their society, and to diffuse its influences through all their institutions, civil, political, social and educational.’
“We will now look for organic and judicial testimony. Thus we have to a certain extent, followed the history of the government of the United States, and find the best thinkers agree that this nation was founded on the principle that ‘righteousness exalteth a nation’ thus forming their belief. We can find it in acts of the men who formed it; that they founded this nation on the principle of the ‘Fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of man.’ We will now examine some of the records to establish the fact that this is a nation ‘;Christian in its chain and filling’- fundamentally, organically, legally and judicially, religiously, morally and educationally, a Christian nation, the denial to the contrary, notwithstanding. And, by the grace of God, we intend to use our humble influence to continue it in the highway to glory, honor and usefulness to man, by keeping it essentially christian in all of its departments. We want laws that are the transcript of the laws of God; we want rulers that rule in the fear of the Lord; we want a judiciary that gives righteous judgments; we want a people that fear God, and work righteousness, then we will be what God intended we should be—an asylum for the oppressed of all lands - ‘The land of the free and the home of the brave.’

I don’t pretend to know how long this country has, but I agree the pace of things is picking up and we seem to be accelerating toward something not good,
As to a date for the USA, almost tongue in cheek, I have one that I found some time ago and have wondered if it could mean anything prophetically,
As a point of reference ancient Babylon under Nebuchadnezzar received world power for 70 years (25,200 days) and his kingdom under Belshazzar was “weighed in the balances and found wanting” with the handwriting on the wall per Daniel Chapter 5.
I found it interesting that 70 years after the United States used the first Atomic bomb in war, August 6th, 1945, (effectively receiving a great sword I believe) and rose to be the ultimate national power on the Earth that very day, that its exactly 25,200 days or 70 years exactly to the 9th day of AV (August 5th) in 2014.
The 9th of Av,or tish b’av has always been a day of darkness and mourning relating to Gods prophetic timetable, both Solomon and Herod’s Temples were destroyed on this day.
What it may indicate here if anything at all, I don’t know, but just thought I would share,

Good choice of a SPLAT date.
I tend to choose the date in 2008 that US Treasury Secretary ‘Walk-the-Plank-Hank’ Paulson forced the major US Banks to allow the sorry US Federal Government to “HELP” them.
