Small minds always leap to the answers given the last time around, which is probably why Maxine Waters keeps getting re-elected. But the last time is not necessarily the same as this time. A terrorist attack is not the same as the Cold War, a war in Afghanistan is not the same as a war in Iraq, and Mitt Romney is not the same as John McCain or Bob Dole.
But since the election, many conservatives seem to be coalescing around the explanation for our defeat given by Jenny Beth Martin of the Tea Party Patriots, who said: What we got was a weak, moderate candidate handpicked by the Beltway elites and country club establishment wing of the Republican Party. The presidential loss is unequivocally on them.
There was also the seven months of primaries, during which Romney got more votes than the rest of the field combined. So theres that. Moreover, the idea that Mitt Romney was a weak, moderate candidate is preposterous...

You have proven yourself to be a much more dishonest, much more aggressive and hostile, pro-abortion troll, than you appeared to be before this thread.
This was good exposure for you.
Uh, where is Ann wrong? Seems to me she is right on the mark.
So where was she wrong?
AMEN!!!!!!!
Well, I’m glad you’re happy.
You have proven yourself incapable of rationale, distinguishing detail, compromise and victory.
Instead of having even .01% of what you want, the enemy has 100% of what they want, and you are going to fund it.
Brilliant strategy.
Run along now, Columbo, you have many more battles to lose.
I read one of Silver's articles that explained the Republicans should pick a very moderate VP candidate to have a better chance in the polls. I suppose you think he was correct after all. The new demographic in this country wants to use OPM. Mitt Romney was a good man and would make a fine president. This country did not deserve him. Ronald Reagan could not get elected in this country now. It has been all downhill since the demise of the California GOP. Virginia and Ohio are gone during presidential election years now, so sad. The country has changed, and not for the better. The GOP needs to enlarge the alliance. There simply are not enough conservatives (social or fiscal), white men, and married women to form a majority anymore.
I can distinguish enough detail to call you on your lefty style attack on the GOP and the pro-life movement, by pretending that the party platform calls for death of the mother.
If you have an honest bone in your body, you will discontinue that strategy.
These sentences right here:
“Moreover, the idea that Mitt Romney was a weak, moderate candidate is preposterous.”
“The idea that Romney failed to present a clear contrast with Obama or was too nice is also nonsense.”
“To the extent Republicans have a problem with their candidates, its not that theyre not conservative enough.”
Myth was a weak candidate, and is in fact a left-winger- a Democrat with an R next to his name. His record exposed him as such- Obama-lite. One of the biggest reasons he lost is the fact that no real conservative could actually support him without being a blatant hypocrite. You can’t complain much about Obamacare if your candidate created Romneycare. In short, the article’s whole premise is wrong. Romney was the worst possible candidate to field against Obama- one whose positions were only slightly to the right of where the Democrats wanted to go, despite the best efforts of his apologists (like Ann) to either make Myth’s record disappear or redefine conservatism leftward. With Myth, we got an echo, not a choice.
I never pretended anything of the sort. You pretended that I pretended that.
I do not care about the GOP party platform at all, because I am no longer of the GOP.
All I have is honest bones in my body, and that is why I stated my position on this issue exactly as it is despite your hectoring me for it.
If you ever expect to advance your platform into any sort of office and them majority, you are going to need to ally with people, and some of them aren’t going to see things precisely as you do, and calling those people trolls, lefties, DU’ers or whatever else is not going to result in any sort of success for anyone other than democrats.
So please, continue to be a self righteous island unto yourself, it has worked terrifically well so far...
So I guess you’ll start stating your pro-abortion position as abortion in cases of rape and incest.
By the way, you are to the right of Mitt Romney on abortion, you are totally against the GOP platform, which is pro-life, but you are to the right of Mitt Romney, he is for abortion on demand, under “health of the mother”.
I already did state that. It’s right there where I stated my postition.
And yep I know I am to the right of Romney via my using the word life instead of health.
It’s not really a huge concern for me though. Abortion is not my primary guiding political issue. I am more concerned with the fact that our government has gone communist. I do not think that the abortion genie is ever going to be put back in its bottle. Nonetheless, I am for that practice being restricted in the way that I described.
You never did explain your claim that there is a pro-death of the mother push among the pro-life movement.
Because that is your claim.
You explain it.
My claim? What are you talking about?
You are the one claiming that there is a pro-death of the mother push among the pro-life movement and that you have to deal with here at FR.
No, I said that there are some here who don’t want abortion to be legal under any circumstance.
No, the GOP Establishment is to blame here. Keep giving us principle-free candidates and you’ll keep losing.
I’m really tired of the Republibots, who would justify Joe Stalin if he had an R after his name.
