Since No President Has Ever Done This Badly In A Debate, We Have No Idea What It Will Do To Race

A historic defeat for a sitting president. Never has a POTUS been this badly whupped in a debate. It is that simple.

It wasn't just that Obama was so bad, but that Romney was so good. Conservatives see a candidate they did not know they had, and independents see a candidate who could turn the country around. No way to predict what this will do to campaign over a week.

Take aways: trickle down government, "you pick losers," and Solyndra and other green energy expenditures of 90 billion could have been 2 million teachers.

Throwing in the towel: Michael Moore, Andrew Sullivan, David Gregory, Ed Schultz.

Sports analogy: POTUS was the '54 Cleveland Indians --winningest team ever, and lost the Series in four games.

Caution to Team Romney and salve to the left: Mondale beat Reagan in the first debate in '04 (though not nearly as badly as Romney beat Obama tonight.)

Analogy? Agincourt?

On asking Lileks for an analogy, he noted that "Romney-Obama" will now serev as shorthand for a debate pummeling.

UPDATE: Don't believe me. Believe Andrew Sullivan:

10.31 pm. Look: you know how much I love the guy, and you know how much of a high information viewer I am, and I can see the logic of some of Obama's meandering, weak, professorial arguments. But this was a disaster for the president for the key people he needs to reach, and his effete, wonkish lectures may have jolted a lot of independents into giving Romney a second look.

Obama looked tired, even bored; he kept looking down; he had no crisp statements of passion or argument; he wasn't there. He was entirely defensive, which may have been the strategy. But it was the wrong strategy. At the wrong moment.

The person with authority on that stage was Romney - offered it by one of the lamest moderators ever, and seized with relish. This was Romney the salesman. And my gut tells me he sold a few voters on a change tonight. It's beyond depressing. But it's true.

The “moron vote” is not affected by the debate.

Ohaha? Flopped at the debate?

Tsk, tsk, tsk.

That calls for harsh punishment-—perhaps even sentencing Obama’s incompetent debate preppers to “eternal living death” in the Phantom Zone.

After 4 years as president, Ohaha felt “fully developed,” with immense power, strength and invulnerability..... realizing his destiny was “to serve mankind, to protect and save others”.....at least for four more years.

Obama had left his DC Fortress of Solitude thinking Romney kryptonite could not touch him.

After all, Ohaha was the 2008 election wonderboy, known for his good deeds ....... and his tolerance and compassion for all the working class unemployed he, himself, had created.

David Axelrod, Robert Gibbs and Valerie Jarrett-—Head of Ohaha’s Kryptonian Relection Council——do not believe Ohaha is doomed to his own destruction.

No way.

After the debate, the Council headed to the Spin Room, telling the gathered media, “Any attempt by you to create a climate of fear and panic amongst the voting public must be deemed, by us, as an act of insurrection.”

Lois “Michele” Lane tried to heal Ohaha’s self-inflicted wounds with a quickie on Air Force One.....but Ohaha’s (cough) heart just wasn’t in it.

Lurking around the debate venue was Mayor Rahm Emanuel, an evil dancing Chicagoan armed with vast resources he looted from the US Treasury when he controlled the agency as Ohaha’s COS. It is the plie’ing Emanuel who exploited Ohaha’s weaknesses....it was he who hatched the evil debate plan that put 47% of Americans in danger of paying taxes.

...Which is what Obama is counting on is one reason why he is ambivalent to debating. He has plenty of free phones to hand out.

We could be getting some more experience in future debates. The next one (after Ryan-Biden) is on foreign affairs, correct? Might that include a discussion of a certain youtube video and embassy security? Not to mention character, presidential truthfulness, Israel. Oh yeah, Mexico is a foreign country too. Let's see, character, presidential truthfulness . . .

Hewitt did such a bang up job pushing for aRnoid.

What’s up with him questioning if debates like this will push MItt over the top?

THIS JUST IN Romney’s got $30 T-shirts with Biden’s face and his now-famous quotation that the middle class “has been buried the last four years” .......replete w/ an “honest Joe” caption.

Joeboy said it with such enthusiasm-—wasn’t “nice” to Obama at all.

ROTFL.

Crazy Uncle Joe has been sent back to the attic and locked up with nothing but bread and water until the debate with Ryan (that has to be scarring the 'carp' out of team Obama now).

On a 'series note', Obama's performance was a disaster of historical proportions. Ever since the creation of news pundits / commentators on TV, to my memory never have the DNC owned leftist Moonbat pundits ever admitted that a democrat candidate lost a debate.

Not even in 2000 when Al Gore acted like a first class jackass by stalking Dubya all over the stage, or groaning when Dubya was speaking and by doing that gave the debate to Bush just on likability. (now they admit Gore lost, only 12 years too late, jerks)

So when the leftists from Chrissy Matthews to Michael Moore admit 'their guy Barry' got massacred it's something of epic proportions. And now they're trying to spin it as no big deal that, 'the incumbent always loses the first debate', yeah ... right.

Personally I think this debate for Ohaha will be like Rick Perry's first debate and the results will be the same -- never recovering.

I think Wed's debate for loser Ohaha will be like Rick Perry's first debate -- same results -- never recovering.

No doubt about it---b/c everything out of Ohaha's mouth next time will be measured against Wed's debacle----and found wanting.

Suggest Mitt should be ready w/ a few one-liners----pointing that up.
