Prediction: If the GOP establishment doesnt follow Republican Rep. Todd Akins example with a big, fat apology to Akin the whole party goes down in flames come November.
I dont mean every Republican will lose, but there is great political peril in not sealing the hole in Republican armor that has opened in Missouri and instead permitting it to remain a Democratic pressure point. Further, for the good of the country (the mantra accompanying the party-wide chorus of pleas to Akin to drop out of his U.S. Senate race), Republicans must resume funding Akins viable campaign ASAP, after cutting it off in a mad fit of political pique. Finally, every one of them the party standard-bearer, party bosses, congressional delegations, allied pundits should come together for a group smack on the head, as in, What were we thinking?
I cant recall anything in public life more widely craven and uncalled for than the open panic and bullying set off across the Republican Party by the first replay of Akins perplexingly ignorant interview comments on rape and pregnancy. The veteran conservative lawmaker, former engineer, former businessman and grandfather of eight recanted these remarks. He apologized for them.

Second Local Station Says Romney Camp Asked For No Akin Questions
We cannot afford to lose this seat. Why take a chance by backing the candidate that Claire McCaskill wants as her opponent?
+1
If only it was that simple. We're now poised to lose a state,a *big* state, that we had in the bag a week ago. What was W's margin of victory in 2000? Was it 3 Electoral votes????? Osama Obama is carpet bombing Boston TV with ads and has been for weeks. Why Boston, you ask? NEW HAMPSHIRE!!! The most heavily populated part of NH is actually a Boston suburb.Osama Obama knows that this is gonna be a close one.The fools here that predict Romney in a landslide are delusional.WE NEED MISSOURI! WE DON'T NEED AKINS!!!
Then stop the internecine warfare!!
I do not agree with Cong. Akin on his apparent opposition to allowing abortions for rape victims, in a hypothetical future State Law--if we can get Roe vs. Wade reversed. But that is not really an issue in this campaign. But the Republican internal war is totally self-destructive, and is playing into the Obamanist hands. It also makes Republicans in general look like a bunch of hysteria driven opportunists, willing to panic at the first shot from the mass media.
This panic on our side is very embarrassing! Akin's actual remark is easily dealt with; ongoing internecine Republican over-reaction is not.

yeah it wouldnt do to expose the fact that immoral Willard wants abortion-on-demand and not just for rape and isnt as good a man as Todd Akin is..
So you honestly think that Akin has been faking his conservative beliefs for decades all in a grand scheme to someday run for the Senate and then deliberately create a blunder that will cost the GOP the seat and the presidency? Really?
Sounds silly, but there may be something to that.
Most southern conservatives were Democrats up until Reagan.
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that more than a few conservative Republicans still had sympathies for Democrat economic policies and wouldn't mind a Democrat in office.
If the stench of his rotting corpse is allowed to remain much longer the entire nation goes down in flames over the next 4.5 years!
I guess that would explain why Romney was leading in Missouri 10 days ago and he's trailing today. You're delusional,Take some medicine.
There’s cowards everywhere.
They infest the GOP in case you haven’t noticed...
-I can’t get over this comment from this pro-life guy made, SO I’M GONNA VOTE FOR A TRAITOROUS COMMUNIST!-
Seems perfectly reasonable to me :O
It is pretty apparent by now that the push to get rid of Akin has nothing to do with his comments....it has all to do with his very conservative stance...which the Liberal Pro-Abort PhonyCons are really upset about
So, if the Pro-Aborts force out Akin...who will fill his slot? By kicking him out, do the PhonyCons really think that Pro-Life, Real Conservative voters are going to vote for the “GOP Insider Pick” Liberal?
Notice the same PhonyCons are not asking Romney to drop out after his Obama Birther comment. The same PhonyCons who whine about Birthers (and help Obama in the process) would have been asking for Akin to quit if he had made a “Birther” comment.
Meh. We didn’t really want the Senate anyway, right?
Yes, and let’s not forget that this hyperventilation was coming almost exclusively from Repubs. This would have not been an issue if Repub after Repub, all through monday hadn’t stepped up one after the other and taken a whack at Akin. Over one word... ONE WORD... What is going on here? Is the Repub leadership that beholden to the beltway punditry and Wall Street bankers that they are willing to sack a politician who stands on principle? Are they that skittish about core conservative beliefs? This is nuts...
This has absolutely NOTHING to do with Akin's position on abortion. It has EVERYTHING to do with his viability as a candidate. And Akin has shown that he is not up for the job. If he can't clearly articulate his position on his #1 issue, then there is no hope he can do it on everything else. When the spotlight hit, he floundered bigtime. If Republicans want to win this seat, then they need to come up with a candidate with more viability.
Ann Coulter is calling for a write-in campaign for Kit Bond.
