Mitt Romney compares himself to JFK as Nancy Reagan endorses him for presidency - VIDEO

The republican presidential nominee, Mitt Romney, continues to face a slew of questions regarding his vast wealth.

With a net worth of over $200 million, the former Massachusetts governor has been ridiculed throughout his campaign for his inability to relate to many Americans who are currently struggling.

In an interview broadcast on Thursday, Fox’s Bill Hemmer asked the GOPer and his wife, Ann, about their immense wealth.

“Back to the connection [with the voters’] aspect of this. There will be people...who will look at you and just say, ‘successful rich guy,’” Hemmer put to him.

In response, Romney likened himself to two of the most iconic presidents in history.

“Like FDR and John F. Kennedy,” Romney responded, “There have been plenty of people.”

JFK’s father was one of the wealthiest men in America and was the first chairman of the SEC. Almost all of his income came from a trust he shared with other family members.

“This is not a nation that divides people based on whether they’ve been successful or not. We don’t say, ‘Oh, boy, this person won the lottery and therefore they can’t understand me.’ We instead look at people and celebrate their success and their achievements, and we look for people who have the skills we think will make our lives better,” Romney added.

“What I find is that the statistics understate the kind of pain and insecurity that exists in America’s homes. I see many people who may be employed but are very concerned that they could lose their job at any time.”

Ann Romney added that her husband’s work ethic had helped him achieve success. “He’s the hardest working person I’ve ever met, besides his father, George Romney, who was a crazy man,” she said.

Meanwhile on Thursday, former first lady Nancy Reagan endorsed Mitt Romney for November’s presidential race.

The widow of President Ronald Reagan said that her “Ronnie” would have liked Romney’s business background and his "strong principles."

Reagan (90) served lemonade and cookies to Mitt Romney and his wife when they visited her LA home.

Later, Nancy Reagan issued a statement which read.

“Mitt and Ann Romney joined me at my home this afternoon for some lemonade and cookies and I offered my firm endorsement of his campaign for President. Although I know he will not be the official nominee of the Republican Party until August in Tampa, Florida, I am thrilled that after Tuesday’s primary he is the clear choice, having won the magic number of 1,144 convention delegates."

The Kennedy’s were bootleggers and corrupt politicians, using their money to buy votes. Romney is a vulture capitalist.

Reagen earned his money, broadcasting, acting, and governing.

I don’t resent Reagan’s wealth, just law breakers and vultures, or anyone who uses the public tax money to get rich.

Dearest Moonshot:

Putting Romney and Reagan as equals is ridiculous. I'm going to support the dude simply because the alternative is unthinkable. If he surprises us all I'll be more than happy (not holding my breath), but at this point we need to take out "The most destructive, the most anti-free market, anti-business, pro-Marxist, anti-life, anti-American, pro-gay, pro-muzzie, pro everything we hate with the will to do anything to sack our country administration ever!"

Romney is the only one who can do that, but very few of us are supporting Romney for any other reason than to take out "The most destructive, the most anti-free market, anti-business, pro-Marxist, anti-life, anti-American, pro-gay, pro-muzzie, pro everything we hate with the will to do anything to sack our country administration ever!"

Got it?

You don’t remember the way Reagan slimed conservatives and talked down to voters like we’re stupid? /s

Then you know that Reagan's tenure as President was far more conservative than his governance of California.

Hey, come on. Don't use those sophomoric debate tactics like using facts! We've got so much more important things going on here, like "conservatives" using their vote for a Pyhrric victory by voting for other than Obama's Republican challenger. Well, it would not even be a Pyhrric victory, considering that NO one other than the Republican candidate has a chance against a Democrat candidate. Call it Pyhrric Plus--all the devastating cost of the Pyhrric victory plus defeat. The only consolation would be able to say in retrospect, "It was a far better thing to have voted my conscience and let the nation truly go to hell than to vote against my conscience and have a least a shot of preventing the reelection of Barack Obama, because, you know, in the end, which is of longer lasting importance--trying to stop four years of evil becoming eight or more years of the same or engaging in a singular act of moral masturbation with its post-electoral glow of self-satisfaction no matter what? And, hey, we all know that if Mitt and a Republican House and Senate were elected, we as conservatives would have a LOT harder time getting them to go in a conservative direction than Obama."

Mittens, is that you? Moonshot, surely there are other Romneybot lovefest sites that are populated with slobbering fans of the Bishop like yourself. Free Republic isn’t one of them.

Maybe you should go blog somewhere where you will feel at home.

Pretty good analogy - Mitt and JFK - both socially liberal, fiscally prudent, pro-national-defense Democrats.

Since when do we resent success in this country? This isn't Europe!!

There are many jealous people in both parties who are not willing to work hard or smart enough to earn it on their own. They just want to complain about others success.
Mitt was not my first, second or even third choice, but he is the best of what is left.
He has shown he can turn companies and the Olympics around. None of those left running and even very few that ever were running can claim the economic successes of Romney.

Romney still was able to get the number of uninsured from 6% to 2%, decrease the number of bankruptcies, grow the state economy and balance the budget. That is quite an accomplishment.

Only if he does a 180 from his Massachusetts governance. I worked for President Reagan, Friend, so I'll be hard to convince. Will I vote for Gov. Romney? I'd vote for Hubert Humphrey if he was running against Barack Obama!

if Romney changes, it is called ‘evolution’ now....just ask the messiah

Hubert Humphrey was more pro gun than Romney.

Hubert H. Humphrey wrote: “Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used and that definite safety rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard against a tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible.”

and I too will vote against the great satan, zer0bama....whomever the RNC sticks us with

"Since when do we resent success in this country?"

The media is trying to tell Americans to resent success or wealth. Yet, they themselves desire both with a passion. It is a weirdness inherent to liberals. They rant and rave about financial success, but they aspire to it as much as anyone. They hate Romney for earning millions, yet they adore the Pelosis, the Kerrys, the Kennedys and the Oprahs.

Romney is a Reaganite and will make a great President.

Romney assured Massachusetts voters running for the Senate in 1994 that he did not want to go back Reaganomics.

Governor Romney, for all his many faults, can’t be worse for this country than Mr. Obama. Therefore, one has to vote for Romney. This is a two-party system, any other vote is a waste of the franchise, is it not?
