Jimmy Carter tried that in 1980. He had the Hostage Crisis as an escuse. It was called the Rose Garden strategy. He also didn't wanted John B. Anderson involved in the debates. So, Reagan debated Anderson one-on-one. Jimmy Carter only gave Reagan one debate. Reagan used his "There ou go again" and "Are you better off" lines in that one. It was more than enough.

I like the clarity that is forming in the GOP race now. I respect Cain and Perry as conservatives -- even Bachman who I found whiney (though she was my initial pick). Now we have Santorum and Gingrich. I haven't made a decision between the two of them -- they are both good in different areas. I know that either would be a vast improvement over Rom or Obam.
