Osteen: Romney "believer in Christ, like me"
CBS This Morning ^ | January 16, 2012 | CBS This Morning

Posted on 01/16/2012 9:22:12 AM PST by Saundra Duffy

(CBS News) Pastor Joel Osteen, one of America's most popular religious figures, said on "CBS This Morning" that GOP candidate Mitt Romney believes in Jesus like he does.

"What I see about Governor Romney is that he says, 'I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God, he's raised from the dead and he's my savior.' I see him as being a believer in Christ, like me."

Charlie Rose said, "That's enough for you?"

"That's enough for me," Osteen said. "There's differences in all religion. I realize Mormonism is different from Christianity, but you know what, he's a man of faith and values. And to me, that's strong."

How strange that so many people watch Pastor Osteen’s program and attend his church. Funny - they call themselves Christian, too. It seems that the judges of who’s a Christian and who’s not congregate here on FR - it’s like a religion they have created - one that condemns everyone who doesn’t believe exactly as they do to hell. Very strange indeed but very telling.

“Osteen is a slimy smarmy grifter of a snake-oil salesman.”

Posts like that give FR a bad name.

Looks to me like Osteen doesn’t know the difference between Jesus the Word who created this world and is God or Jesus the created brother of angels or Jesus the Mexican guy down the street.

If Osteen’s faith in Christ is no greater than that of JugEars, then Osteen is in sad shape.

What exactly does that mean? Hitler was strong. Satan is strong. But neither is/was “strong enough”.

Jesus Christ is my Savior, my Redeemer, and my Best Friend. This is Heavenly Father’s Plan of Salvation and the Holy Ghost seals this in my heart. Deal with this: Jesus Christ gave His life for me to save me from my sins.

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:8-9

2 John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

That’s really not what is going on here. I cannot say who is a Christian, nor can Joel. It is between each person and Jesus. We are not to judge others.

That said, we are instructed to judge the TEACHING of others. I’m not willing to say that any man is going to hell. I, myself, have a rather unconventional vision of hell myself: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/2240648/posts

Osteen is a moron and has left the reservation. When you start preaching “name and claim it” you have gone over the cliff.
Not surprising you feel a kinship, he is not preaching Biblical concepts any longer.

The full name of the Mormon religion is Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. So the Mormons do have some fealty with the historic figure Jesus Christ, and it is part of their testament.

Some could allow themselves to despise others for their interpretation of who Christ was, and what He is supposed to signify, but that in no way makes that person a “better” Christian, or even a better human being.

In my personal contact with the LDS people of Utah, they have been known for being honest in their dealings, hard-working in all their endeavors, and willing to step forth with alacrity and extend a helping hand when they see a stranger who may have stumbled. But no matter how well you might deal with them in the market place, it is a rare thing indeed for a non-Mormon to come visit a Mormon in his own home.

And some find this off-putting.

I have no doubt that when Christ returns he will tell us we’re all doing it wrong, Mormons and holy rollers alike.

—Jesus Christ gave His life for me to save me from my sins.—

That is the Christian message. If you add anything to it (regarding saving you from your sins) it stops being Christian. If you believe there is anything you can do to remove your condemnation for sins beyond accepting his free gift (mentioned above), you no longer carry the message of Christ.

Osteen apparently doesn't have a brain in his head. Simple research and reading would clearly show Osteen that the Christ and God that Romney believes in has no relationship to the Christ and God that the Holy Bible teaches.

Unless Osteen believes that he is going to wind up being the deity of his own planet with multiple wives. And by the way, if Osteen doesn't get busy and acquire more spiritual wives now, he can't ever be his own deity. (Sounds like an infomercial.)

Furthermore, the holy spirit that the Mormons believe in is not the personal Holy Spirit spoken of in the Holy Bible. The holy spirit the Mormons speak of is an impersonal force that sounds and reads like it is more Satanic in nature.

Now, I am beginning to wonder if Osteen doesn't fit the descriptions of a false teach as described in the New Testament, or a false prophet described in the Old Testament. Osteen doesn't seem to have the Spiritual--not spiritual--discernment to understand evil.
