... We have a president who is a socialist, Perry said in response to a question at the early-morning eye-opener GOP debate in Concord, N.H.
I reject the premise that Obama reflects our founding fathers, Perry said. He doesnt...

Gov. Perry's remarks were made in response to a question from a panelist who quoted John McCain's defense of Obama during the 2008 election and then asked Gov. Perry if he agreed with McCain.
I don't have Gov. Perry's full quote yet but will post it when I do.
Gov Perry was correct on all counts when he said that.
Correction:
Sen. John McCain’s comments were in a more recent OpEd where he said about Obama:
“I disagree with many of the presidents policies, but I believe he is a patriot sincerely intent on using his time in office to advance our countrys cause. I reject accusations that his policies and beliefs make him unworthy to lead America or opposed to its founding ideals.
Hail Mary.
Regardless, half of Republicans don’t know what ‘socialist’ means...so I don’t think stating it will help much.
McCain still sucks and is destroying the republican party.
Too bad he never made it out of Vietnam, he is a traitor.
Yes! It is important to say it.
Let’s have the discussion.
His campaign against Obama wasn't a fight it was an exchange with the "friend across the aisle."
AND HE LOST!
What else are you supposed to call a socialist? Perry was just telling it like it is.
“Yes! It is important to say it.”
Agree - we’ll see if it gets any traction. Obviously saying it sooner would have been more helpful - but he still said it first.
>>Regardless, half of Republicans dont know what socialist means...so I dont think stating it will help much.<<
It hasn’t helped that here on FR “socialist”=”anyone and everyone who doesn’t support MY candidate.”
Some candidate supporters were more vigorous with this than others as we all recall.
HOORAY Rick Perry!
(excerpts...”The Law”)
Now, legal plunder can be committed in an infinite number of ways. Thus we have an infinite number of plans for organizing it: tariffs, protection, benefits, subsidies, encouragements, progressive taxation, public schools, guaranteed jobs, guaranteed profits, minimum wages, a right to relief, a right to the tools of labor, free credit, and so on, and so on. All these plans as a whole with their common aim of legal plunder constitute socialism.
But how is this legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime.
Then abolish this law without delay, for it is not only an evil itself, but also it is a fertile source for further evils because it invites reprisals. If such a law which may be an isolated case is not abolished immediately, it will spread, multiply, and develop into a system.
Above all, if you wish to be strong, begin by rooting out every particle of socialism that may have crept into your legislation. This will be no light task.
HOORAY Frederic Bastiat!
“Some candidate supporters were more vigorous with this than others as we all recall.”
Tell me about it. I did my share of name-calling, but Socialist is way over the top (unless they’re directly supporting Obama).
RE: Rick Perry calls Obama ‘a socialist’ in GOP debate
And why is this news? Isn’t it obvious?
That explains it. When he kept saying "my friend" during his run, he was probably actually talking to those across the aisle instead of to the People. If he wasn't so debilitating to our side I would feel sorry for him.
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.
