Dear Governor Palin,
In the long sweep of human events, beginning rightly with the ministry of Christ, men and women have been asking the eternal question: Lord, what do you want of me? From Saul on the road to Damascus, to Martin Luther, at the dawn of the Reformation, to Soldiers who carry their nations best hopes and dreams in defense of liberty, this question has been repeated.
In farm and factory, in churches across the globe and in the corridors of power as leaders have knelt in prayer, that question resonates. George Washington, Abraham Lincoln these two of our nations shining stars were humble enough to ask for divine guidance and direction. Washington, his (our) Army in desperate shape, fell to his knees in the snows of Valley Forge and stated the case for a birth of freedom. God answered. Lincoln, on his way to his Inaugural travelled from Springfield, Ill. to Washington, D.C. and along the way, prayed in earnest that God would somehow usher in a new birth of freedom.
Again, He answered.
Neither of these two men were sunshine Patriots. They did, instead, answer their nations call to somehow keep the idea of American freedom and exceptionalism alive. In our time, Ronald Reagan understood and answered Freedoms clarion call. He stepped into the darkness and kindled the fires of freedom for a nation in real peril. He understood, as do you that history summons leaders and beckons them to rise above citizen status to live the life of statesman in defense of liberty That is where we are today.
Governor Palin, the struggles of today hearken us back to an earlier time when the nations future was at stake. A time when men and women of enormous faith knelt in the snows in distant places and asked our God for the chance to carry on the work of our forefathers. These struggles hearken us back to a time when, as the patriot song says, Soldiers served our great nation, From the frozen fields of Valley Forge to the trail called Ho Chi Minh, to the mountain slopes of Afghanistan to the streets of America.
Governor Palin, will you answer that clarion call? Will you rise up and lend your statecraft, vision, and love of country to serve us as this nation, so richly blessed by God enters yet another time for testing and choosing"? We, all of us signers of this petition, not unlike our forefathers mutually pledge to each other (and to you) our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor" and graciously ask that you proudly accept our nomination for President of the United States and know that, just like the Soldiers of Valley Forge, with you at the helm, Americas better days are ahead of her and that America will be as President Reagan so proudly declared in his farewell speech, ...I've spoken of the shining city in my mind it was a tall proud city built on rocks stronger than oceans, wind-swept, God-blessed, and teeming with people of all kinds living in harmony and peace, a city with free ports that hummed with commerce and creativity, and if there had to be city walls, the walls had doors and the doors were open to anyone with the will and the heart to get here. This is the America we all envision and the one we know, with your leadership as our President, is both real and attainable.
Governor Palin, will you allow us to join you on this great crusade? Now is the time, today is the day, our future together is here.

I’m with you on the fact she didn’t receive the support from the GOP she should have. I think most of us are in agreement with the reasons for her political troubles (most not of her making). My biggest concern is the public’s inability to see past the invented negativity.
I served a career in the Air Force and would’ve been proud to call her my commander-in-chief. Unfortunately, I’m in a minority.

Newt has been saying one thing and doing the opposite for 30 years.

Although I’ve not been following Newt that closely over the last decade or so during the 90s I’m pretty sure he delivered on what he said he was going to do.
Can you be more specific like naming some of his flip/flops?
Newt completely defeated the GOP hopes of accomplishing anything substantive in the 90s.
Newt stopped the defunding of the UN, PBS, and NPR.
He also blocked attempts to trim EPA and education dept down.
He personally saw to the defeat of conservative congressman Bob Dornan, who was a thorn in his socialist side, by getting funding for Dornan’s opponent, Loretta Sanchez.

The truth is, gloating about Sarah Palin not currently running is the only thing keeping the folks who invested all their hopes and dreams into an unlikely Jim DeMint run from jumping off a cliff.
No worries, though. Her endorsement could single-handedly make a candidate, and everyone knows it.
I hold out faint hope that she changes her mind and runs, but I’m not going to be like the Chris Christie lunatics who won’t take 7,000 nos for an answer.
To 64 - The lawsuit against McGinnis has quietly been put aside, hasn’t it? Not that this implies anything in McGinnis’ book is true, or not.

No strong denial of every item in the book (Sarah's husband did call McGinniss a liar but made no statement about individual allegations).
A sudden pull-out from any potential candidacy with no real reason given (did she suddenly discover that she has kids?).

In the 90s America had a balanced budget during his time as Speaker and paid down half a trillion dollars from the national debt, how is that ‘completely defeated the GOP hopes of accomplishing anything’??? (by GOP I am assuming you mean conservatives not the commies lovers we have in the GOP now).
I personally don’t think we should get out of the UN. If we did we would lose a very strong voice in the world and some of what goes on in there (the UN). Let them prime and prance around all they want with this resolution or that resolution that holds no water other then the paper it’s written on. They are nothing without the US’ involvement, they know it and they know we know it too. Let them cackle all they want and when the chips are down we step in (with our foreign aid to well placed voting members) and make the changes to the rules that matter and if they still refuse to get in line we slam the door with our veto power. It’s a politicians game and sad to say we’re better at it then anyone else.
