Quick notes on the poll and the logic behind it: I left off Ron Paul because if I include him it will get spammed to death, Rick Perry was added because all reports indicate hes very likely to declare later this summer and Palin was left off because I havent seen anything indicating she is even close to announcing a run. The rest are all declared candidates.
Who's your choice for GOP nominee?
Michele Bachmann
Herman Cain
Tim Pawlenty
Rick Perry
Rick Santorum
Mitt Romney
Jon Huntsman
Newt Gingrich
Other:
We had a president who was seriously failin
Over the falls he was taking us sailin
The economy was tankin
Our hopes they were sankin
Then to the rescue, thank goodness, Sarah Palin!
I think more needs to be heard from the first four. The last four are damaged goods.
Michele Bachmann 24.55% (150 votes)
Herman Cain 16.69% (102 votes)
Tim Pawlenty 0.65% (4 votes)
Rick Perry 34.53% (211 votes)
Rick Santorum 1.96% (12 votes)
Mitt Romney 1.64% (10 votes)
Jon Huntsman 0% (0 votes)
Newt Gingrich 0.98% (6 votes)
Other: 18.99% (116 votes)
Perry/Bachman, just to watch the suicides.
It will be between Bachmann and Perry, with Florida being the key early primary and where Perry will pick up the support of Jeb Bush. Whoever wins Florida will get huge money and will probably win Super Tuesday as well.
Palin will be right there if she jumps in, but she and Bachmann appeal to the same fiscally conservative group, so that might hand it to Perry.
Ron Paul will have a strong following among libertarians and still has an outside chance.
I’m not sure about Perry? He seems like just another politician to me, giving lip service to serious spending cuts. How does the Tea Party feel about him?
Sorry to say, that's probably true of them all. And all a president really has is the bully pulpit and a veto pen.
How does the Tea Party feel about him?
Don't know. Outside of Texas he's probably a question mark.
How about Palin/Cain? Or Palin/Bolton?
Ron Paul has NO chance............none, nada, bupkis of winning the nomination!
Palin YES; those VEEP choices? HELL NO and in spades!
Not bad.
This conservative Texan’s take:
Perry is the worst sort of politician’s politician. He’s smarmy, basically corrupt, and not very bright.
The only reason he looks good to folks outside our state is because any Texas politician would look good to y’all in the less deep red states.
Perry hasn’t done anything. Whatever he claims as his resume is in reality the work of the private sector or if government has had a role it’s the Lt. Governor who’s more powerful, the Speaker of the House, the Committee Chairs and the more influential legislators.
He’ll remind people of GWB in a serious way, and that’ll scare off independents.
Right now I would go for either Cain or Bachmann, or Palin if she decides to run. At least any of them as Veep or some cabinet position.
My choice would be Rick Perry, from that list. #2 would be Michelle....the Bauchman variety.
What would you think about Condi? She has experience, and the gender and race people in America seem to want to see in the White House. Sorry to speak frankly, but I believe that is a fact.
I am sure Obama is going to kick Biden out, and plant a hispanic and/or female person as his VP to wrap up the votes.
Yes, very strange.
At first I thought it was just declared candidates, but I see Rick Perry on the list.
Perry but no Palin?
Meaningless poll.
Then again, most of them are at this stage.
Pretty innovative. Would certainly do a lot to turn this country around...especially enjoy Jan Brewer as Homeland Security cheif! YES! But, I don’t agree with your top spot...
PALIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Bolton bumpersticker (the specs/moustache one from Cafe Press) already has libs in the rearview pounding their heads on the steering wheel.
I appreciate your informed opinion. I will certainly look closer at Governor Perry.
But, really, when a person is a good leader, they do not have to micro manage. They can trust those department heads, which they hand picked, to do the job they were hired to do. And we love a government that steps out of the way to allow the private sector to thrive! It takes a strong leader to hold back their government.
