Could Republicans Self-Destruct in 2012? (It's Mitt or lose, according to this jackwagon)
The American Prospect ^ | June 17, 2011 | Pema Levy

Sahil Kapur has a good piece up at TNR about the Tea Party’s plans to go after Mitt Romney because he’s not the “rock-solid fiscal conservative” they want. According to Kapur, FreedomWorks, the Dick Armey-led Tea Party organization, is threatening to “uneash part of its $25 million treasure trove in an attempt to sink his candidacy.” Meanwhile, Joe Miller, the Tea Party candidate who took on Lisa Murkowski in Alaska and lost last November, has his own political action committee dedicated to going after Mitt Romney where it matters most: New Hampshire.

Last November, the Tea Party swept into state houses and the House of Representatives, but radical candidates like Sharon Angle, who crowded our more moderate Republicans for their party’s nomination, cost Republicans control of the U.S. Senate. The lesson seemed to be that in more local races the Tea Party was a Republican God-send, but for national office, it was often a curse. Now we’re talking about the presidency—the stakes are even higher. Romney is Republicans’ best hope at unseating Obama in a tough economic climate, and the Tea Party wants to repeat its mistakes and make sure he doesn’t get the nomination.

But FreedomWorks told Kapur they aren’t too worried about a repeat of last November:

“I don’t think we want to get stuck with another disappointment as a Republican president. If the guy at the top of the ticket goes against the free market, goes against what we believe in, then we’re not really motivated by just getting a Republican in office.”

This is bad news for the Republican Party, or at least traditional party elites, who really do just want to get Obama out of the White House and install a Republican It will be hard enough to battle Obama next fall, and even harder if the Tea Party puts its money into defeating Republicans’ best candidate.

We are not having a vote on it.

Many conservatives have already decided that if the Republican party runs a social liberal, they will vote third party or write in. Some already did just that in 2008 and have been gratified to see the tea party movement come into being.

The old establishment Republicans have been disgraced, and getting control back is not on the table.

No, we can’t just all get along, if the price is more socialism.

Palin, if (when) she announces will be a Richter 12.0 shock to the Republican field.

Lots of “Well, if Palin’s not running, I guess X will do” people will get knocked out. Bachmann is one of those X’s, IMHO. So is Cain, for the most part.

Two weeks after Palin gets in, she will have a solid lead over Romney. She might lose New Hampshire (although that’s not a given.) I don’t think she would lose any other Republican caucus or primary.

Two months after she gets in, she will have a statistically significant polling lead over Obama. It will grow.

Book it.

I’m not particularly religious at all, actually, but I’m really starting to think that it’s possible that God really is behind Palin’s miraculous rise, post-2008 career, and possible 2012 Presidental run.

If we’re lucky, and don’t screw it up, that is. The woman just appears to be Blessed. Certainly everything she touches recently seems to turn to gold. People always ask God for a sign.

Well?

Mitt is self destruction for the Republican Party and the country. He will most likely mean another four years for Obama.

I’m so glad someone is standing up to the slick Willard. The guy has an atrocious record fiscally and socially. His state was 47th in job creation from the bottom. He did cut spending in MA initially but before he left he jacked it up again and left the state with an ever growing subsized health care mandate. The subisized portion grew from 130 million to 800 million in the first three years and by the end of this fiscal year it is estimated to be 880 million. He also forked out hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Governor’s commission on Gay and Lesbian youth while he attempted to raise fees on businesses so high that it took the liberal Democrats in MA intervening to stop him. I thought he was bad on social issues but his record is just aweful on fiscal issues but that is normal. I’ve never found the fiscal conservative social liberal beast some people claim to be. Usually if one is liberal on social issues it always bleeds over into fiscal issues or into Orwellian speech codes to shut up conservatives and such.

Mitt will lose all right. He’ll throw the ball game just like he did against Kennedy in 1994.

But I love the dummies on various sites insisting we do the Dole and McCain dance again. Romney isn’t that different from Obama. But the Democrats could blame us for anything wrong that happened on his watch, get their way on policy since he’s a big lib, and win back their congressional majorities. Win, win, win for them.

Go away Mitt, somewhere like Zimbabwe.

I object to Romney being called our “best” canddidate. What measure is this? Polls that show very soft support with only 30% of those who say they will vote for him sure of it? The man has soft support because he has stayed on the sidelines. Does the establishment think that the Democrats will just play nice and won’t bring up the man’s horrid record as Gov of MA? Mitt’s soft support is what lost him the nomination last time. And does anyone think Mitt is going to be a fighter? Tim Pawlenty has more passion than Mitt!

If it is Mitt then the Republican Party does lose.
I will never again vote for “the lesser of two evils”.
The GOP had better run a real republican, CONSERVATIVE, or they can kiss my vote goodbye.

That's the way I see it too....

Some may even hold their nose and vote for Palin..but the power of “their own self interest” will win out....

This Country is at a tipping point...and many non-political people are realizing it...

Romney lacks principles and courage, and compensates with tremendous arrogance and deceit. That is the very definition of evil, according to the late M. Scott Peck, author of People of the Lie.

Romney gave us Obama, by sending forth his demon backstabbers in Autumn 2008 to sabotage the Republican campaign.

Romney will destroy the USA, just as surely as Obama, just with greater efficiency.

In a poll from IndyChannel.com, 72% won't vote for Obama, in a state that Obama won in 2008. Romney will never get more than his current 20% or so of liberal Republicans. Obama and Romney will be competing for the same 40% or 45% of communist Democrats and communist RINOs.

The communist plan, as always, is to force conservatives and independents to either stay home, or vote for one of the chosen communists.

Photo voter ID legislation currently underway or passed in 30 states will counter much of the voter fraud of recent elections.

In a three-way race against both Obama and Romney, Sarah Palin will win with more than half the total vote.

In a two-way race against Obama, Sarah Palin will win with one of the widest margins in history.

Does the establishment think that the Democrats will just play nice and ...

The establishment GOP and establishment Democrats are all living fat off the corruption of cultural hegemony. They are united against the conservatives and independents who are the majority of voters in the USA.

Their objective is to prevent any conservative candidate from getting on the ballot, and force the voters to choose between two of their corrupted circle.

The MSM WANTS Romney because it has books, movies,
and headlines all ready to destroy the GOP thereafter.

Example?:

"But the details of the event are more than unseemly - they may, in fact, be illegal. Massachusetts's animal cruelty laws specifically prohibit anyone from carrying an animal "in or upon a vehicle, or otherwise, in an unnecessarily cruel or inhuman manner or in a way and manner which might endanger the animal carried thereon. "An officer for the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals responded to a description of the situation saying "it's definitely something I'd want to check out." The officer, Nadia Branca, declined to give a definitive opinion on whether Romney broke the law but did note that it's against state law to have a dog in an open bed of a pick-up truck, and "if the dog was being carried in a way that endangers it, that would be illegal."

"Dog on Roof? What Was It Like for Romney's Pooch? - Scientists Say Dog Likely Experienced Wind-Whipped, Uncomfortable Trip - "Before beginning the drive, Mitt Romney put Seamus, the family's hulking Irish setter, in a dog carrier and attached it to the station wagon's roof rack. e'd built a windshield for the carrier, to make the ride more comfortable for the dog,".. Jordan Kaplan, the owner of Petaholics, a dog walking service in New York City,
and a lifelong dog owner and dog lover, said Romney's actions were uncalled for"

"Romney's dog - This is a distinction Mitt Romney probably could do without, but he is surely the first presidential candidate to be attacked for putting a dog with diarrhea in a carrier and tying it to the top of a station wagon. Romney's defense: Seamus liked it. [like the citizens under Romney's RomneyCARE, etc.?] "

"As the oldest son, Tagg Romney commandeered the way-back of the wagon, keeping his eyes fixed out the rear window, where he glimpsed the first sign of trouble. ''Dad!'' he yelled. ''Gross!'' A brown liquid was dripping down the back window, payback from an Irish setter who'd been riding on the roof in the wind for hours. As the rest of the boys joined in the howls of disgust, Romney coolly pulled off the highway and into a service station. There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car, then hopped back onto the highway."

"Story about dog on car roof comes back to bite Romney - 200 comments from readers complaining of animal cruelty"

Romney's bad behavior Exposed by Seamus

"Romney Loses Nomination Over Dog Abuse? - Romney was traveling that summer with his wife, five sons, and Seamus to his parent's cottage on Lake Huron. But hours into the ride, Seamus apparently suffered diarrhea, which ran down the back window of the car. .David Kravitz wrote on BlueMassGroup, a liberal blog. "It also strikes me as classic Romney: it solves a problem efficiently, in a business-like manner, and with no regard whatsoever for the suffering that the solution may cause."

I voted for Ross Perot in ‘92. Clinton was the beneficiary. Keep in mind, Perot got some 20 million votes, but he didn't get enough in any one state to get even 1 electoral vote. That is significant. Sarah is so popular with the grass roots that she may pull in many electoral votes which would force the election to be decided by the House.
