Huckabee, Trump Departures Could Boost Palin
411 Mania ^ | May 16, 2011

If she decides to run...

With both Mike Huckabee and Donald Trump announcing that they will not be running for President, it eliminates two major variables from the scrambled GOP primary field. Huckabee, in particular, would have been one of the frontrunners had he decided to run, so his decision to sit out has major ramifications on the rest of the field.

Huckabee would have once again been the favorite to win Iowa. His departure leaves a major void with Iowa's large Republican evangelical Christian base, a group that is now up for grabs. Sarah Palin likely won't run, but you have to wonder what her thought process is right now since she'd likely have the best shot at swooping up those remains in Iowa. Doing so would give her a very good shot at winning Iowa, and with the type of money she'd be able to raise, she'd have just as good a shot at winning the nomination as anyone else in the field.

If Palin doesn't run, someone like Michelle Bachmann or Rick Santorum, two other Republicans who wear their religion on their sleeve, could benefit in Iowa. The question with those two is can they generate enough name ID and buzz for it to matter.

Trump turned out to be a one gimmick candidate and was never able to recover once President Obama released his long-form birth certificate and chopped up Trump's birther base. His departure though also frees up a 5-10% chunk of primary voters, a major opportunity for someone like Herman Cain, another "non-political" businessman with a no-non-sense approach, as well, again, someone like Sarah Palin who is well liked by the same Tea Party types that were supporting Trump.

Mitt Romney also benefits here. With Huckabee out of Iowa, it's one less serious contender he has to worry about in that state, a state he lost last time around. If Romney wins Iowa, he will be in very good position to win the primaries very quickly, since he is likely to do well in New Hampshire and the chances of winning Iowa AND New Hampshire and then going on to lose the primaries, with the type of money and organizational advantages he has, is slim to none.

Still though, the departures of Huckabee and Trump have the potential to benefit Palin more than anyone else, if she opts to run.

Besides being a successful businessman, the singluar advantage that the Hermanator has is that no one can call him a racist. He could take Obama apart and scold him like the little boy he is.

She's not running - Nor should she - Her daughter is doing a reality TV show, my God we need more serious people than this in Washington. I agree with her politics but she is not ready to be POTUS/CinC....... Yes, if she were the nominee I would walk over glass to vote for her over Obama.

But she is not running, is my best estimate. M. Daniels or Christie (sitting Governors who are leading) is who the road appears to be paved for. Both can beat Obama easier than Palin as well.

It belongs to Sarah, and all the RINOs know it, which is why they are all standing on the sidelines.

And since it belongs to her she can take her time and make state-run media play her game, instead of vice-versa.

ineluctable

Even despite his flaws, I would even throw in Rick Perry, you can't deny that Texas' economy has done pretty well on his watch, and in particular, he and Palin have forged a relationship.

She has no security and I doubt anyone would give her any. I don’t know how that works.

The Secret Service is authorized by law to protect major presidential and vice presidential candidates, and their spouses within 120 days of a general presidential election

Her daughter is an adult and can do anything she wants. Did Ron or Maureen Rean doom the Gipper? Let me give you my personal rundown:

1. Herman Cain. We’ve NEVER elected someone to the presidency who hasn’t held an elected or flag officer position. EVER.

2. Tim Pawlenty. Yawn.

3. Chris Christie. Gun-grabber. Pro-911 mosque, etc.

4. Michele Bachmann. Only one individual has ever won the presidency with just the House of Representatives on their resume. In a strange four-way race. Do you see 2012 being a 4-way race and Rep. Bachmann as Abraham Lincoln?

5. Rick Santorum. Couldn’t win his own state.

6. Bobby Jindal. Probably not a natural born citizen, as his parents were not American citizens at his time of birth.

7. Mitch Daniels. Less charisma than a potted plant. Yawn.

Only one individual has ever won the presidency with just the House of Representatives on their resume. In a strange four-way race. See that happening again?

How about if we adjust that to read:

His daughter is acting on Love Boat, Fantasy Island, and CHiPS, my God we need more serious people than this in Washington.

Do that work for you?

H. Cain is a relatively recent entry to the field. I don’t think any serious conservative contender for pres. can discount anyone or thing from happening between now and summer of 2011.

I think Palin has positioned herself well for pres. run or to be a king/queen maker. She’s been in the arena taking on Onada longer than any of them.

I saw LTC West take on the Onada weasal trying to defend the requirement for gov’t contractors to disclose previoius political donations. It was a hoot when the guy would not disclose if he personnally supported the requirement. I think West would have been better if he had asked the guy if this requirement could lead to political mischief. That would have put the nail in the coffin.

I'd add the following:

2. Tim Pawlenty. Yawn. 'Senator Al Franken'. 'Nuff said.

Evidenced by the swarm of hate at the mention of Sarah Palin running, the Left is scared to death of her appeal.

Check it out. After you get over being struck by how hateful they are, you begin to laugh at them.

Mike Huckabee Out; Sarah Palin In?

Daniels is toast after that judge he appointed to the state supreme court wrote the opinion that people have no recourse to cops ILLEGALLY invading their property.

That appointment shows Mitch Daniels is a moron and totally unqualified to be POTUS, where he could appoint a similar asshat to the Supreme Court.
