We've never elected a president without some government service, so there goes Mr. Trump and Mr. Cain. We've only elected one person to the White House with only the House of Representatives on their resume and that was 151 years ago in an election where the Democrats were split three ways, so that takes care of Congresswoman Bachmann. That leaves Governor Sarah Palin, based on Dr. Borst's analysis. We elect governors all the time, it's what we do. Governors, vice-presidents, generals and senators, pretty much in that order.

CAIN/BOLTON
But hoping Forbes will jump in. He made a pronouncement about the gold standard this week. It got some publicity but I suspect the msm doesn’t want his name out there too broadly.

I worked for Steve in Iowa back in 1996, and I like him, but he’s not running. As I said, we don’t elect people without some government experience (elected or flag officer level) so Mr. Cain, who I hear is a good man, isn’t a serious candidate unless this election is unlike every other we’ve ever seen. Mr. Bolton will hopefully make a good secretary of state someday, which is why I think he’s implying a run now, to get his name out there, or possibly as a “Dick Cheney” type figure for a less experienced presidential nominee.

Maybe this year will be different.
This year, we are looking for someone who hasn’t been part of the problem.
I think Herman Cain will carry the “we need a businessman who understands the economy” faction, the “we need an outsider” faction, the “we HAVE to secure the border” faction, the “we need a FIGHTER faction”, the “we must have total government reform, and tax reform” faction.
The biggest thing this election will be the Fair tax, to take power away from Washington DC and give it back to the people.
Herman supports the Fair Tax - do Sarah, Michelle , and Donald?
And being so open about his WHOLE life will endear him to a lot of people who may still be stinging from getting the wool pulled over their eyes by the teleprompter reader.
Think of the focus groups reaction on a national scale, and I think were talking a Reagan size landslide.

The whole issue seems incredulous until one looks at it from another angle. Isn't anybody able to write English anymore?

Newsweek wanted to know if he were tough enough for the job. That's "was." Just because the word "if" appears somewhere in the neighborhood doesn't mean you use the subjunctive.

As long as he doesn't bring the "see... we have black candidates too" faction. That would be stupid. The more I listen to Cain the more I like HIM. Primary held today, he gets my vote too.

There is a man who has been fighting Obama politically, has confronted him in person and has openly shunned him. He also happens to run the most prosperous, business friendly state in our country. His name is Rick Perry. Like him or not, he's the one with the balls and the record to back them up.
I look at a Perry/Ryan-Perry/West as a pretty tough ticket.

How about Scott Walker or Ken Cucinelli or Jim Demint?

Walker is certainly a rising star but I think a foundation in Wisconsin needs laying for the states sake. Perry was Lt.Governor under Bush when everyone was blasting Bush about how weak the Governor's office is and that the power rests on the Lt. Governor. I also like how Perry has actually fought Obama, the EPA and Federal over reaching into state affairs. He also isn't liked much by the Bush's (Kay Bailey was endorsed over Rick by GHW) and he has a proven record on jobs. He can simply say “Here is what Texas has done in 4 years and here is what you have done”. I also like that he flew a C130 and didn't go to Yale or Harvard.

Beyond doubt, he’s our best candidate, and I’m from Tennessee.

We have a group of retreads, some good but unknown guys and some up and comers but record to record, Perry is the man.

Everyone who has a dog in this Republican race, and we know candidates have their volunteers working the FR pages promoting their guys, will dog Perry, but if you step back and look at the whole pic and who has been taking on Obama and his people directly, it's been Perry. I know he has some baggage but we need a fighter, the kinda guy who shoots a coyote on his morning jog, who hands instructions to Obama while he gets off the tarmac, who tells him "I can't meet you in El Paso but come to Austin and we will do a flyover of the wildfire damage over in West Texas ( after Obama refused aid)." Heck Obama tried to mouth Perry for accepting Federal money and Perry shot back with "Hey we're a net donor state so don't give me that"
I like Christie and Walker and some of these other guys but our candidate has to despise Obama and all he stands for. Plus Perry has close relationships with all the tough Republican Governors like Kasich and Walker and Christie.
