To hear The Donald tell it, he totally trumps President Barack Obama as a messenger and far outweighs Mitt Romney as a businessman.
Riding a surge in the polls recently, Donald Trump let loose on CNNs State of the Union on Sunday, blaming Mr. Obama for soaring oil prices and disparaging Mr. Romney, the former Massachusetts governor and his potential rival for the 2012 Republican nomination, as basically small business guy.
Showing his usual flair for letting it rip, Mr. Trump said the U.S. had become a laughingstock throughout the world under Mr. Obama.
Were he president, Mr. Trump said, he would force the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries major producers to lower oil priceseven though OPEC has no direct control over the price of oiland would have invaded Libya to take the oil and not just to unseat leader Moammar Gadhafi.
When the CNN host, Candy Crowley, expressed dismay over the comment, Mr. Trump elaborated: Id take the oil. Id give them plenty so they can live very happily. I would take the oil.
He expressed nostalgia for the old days, when you have a war and you win, that nation is yours.

A Liberal attacking a Marxist. Look, the enemy of my enemy is not a friend. The sooner you realize Trump is no conservative or a friend, the better
anytime now, Romney will fight back...anytime now....
Palin is a conservative, Trump is not.
They are not even vaguely equivalent.
LOL. I don't see Trump as a force for good or bad. In fact, I don't see any politician in those terms. I think they're bad or worse.
My point about Trump is neither an indictment nor endorsement of his candidacy, but rather an acknowledgement or understanding of why he's doing so well. That's it.
And, he's doing well because earned or unearned, there's a significant percentage of people who believe him to be a smart, if also self-serving guy, who has real accomplishments he can point to.
The candidate that eventually wins the GOP nomination is the one that is seen to be the smartest, the most inspiring (on whatever the issues de jour may be), and the most energetic. Trump, just like Christ Chistie, is a "ballsy" guy who don't take much in the way of flak, and can fight back without being seen as whiner or cry-baby. That has real appeal to a lot of people.
There's NO ONE in the Republican field that is doing that, or even can do that right now. THAT is why Trump is beginning to do well.
I am happy about that, believe me. And I don’t get it when we’re told to shut up about the birth certificate, because it “hurts” us. Bullcrap.
So agree with Nancy Pelosi impeaching Bush? Duly noted.
Do you wish John Kerry had been elected, as Trump did?
Do you support universal healthcare, too?
Trump does.
Please answer, I’m dying to know.
First off, Trump is not a politician. Trump is a celebrity tv host and a political neophyte who is captivating some folks with bully-talk. His long time business experience is a personal triumph but not something that translates well to politics.
>>>>>My point about Trump is neither an indictment nor endorsement of his candidacy, but rather an acknowledgement or understanding of why he's doing so well. That's it.
Unlike other posters you do mix in some analysis of Trump's recent showmanship. Its also true you are spending a great deal of time defending Trump from the attacks at the hands of conservatives. Although you haven't come out and said you'll vote for him.
I'm still convinced you see Trump and his new found populism as a force for good. Which is at odds with my seeing Trump as a phony and fraud.
It is lunacy...
Establishment RNC types are not questioning and investigating Obama's numerous lies and deceptions like Trump is.
Trump's fearless approach is why I support him over them.
I haven't defended Trump. In fact, I have said just the opposite. I'd point you to this thread, where I said (when talking about the similarities between Romney & Trump)...
"I think that they are, for all practical purposes, completely indistinguishable. In fact, socially, Romney is perhaps a bit more conservative than Trump considering Romney isn't on his third wife.Trump is popular because of the birther issue. That's it. And, I think it goes to show what a vacuous issue it is as a great number of its adherents can be so easily and QUICKLY fooled by someone who preaches the same.
Trump would be the LEAST conservative candidate in the field, and yet he's leading all comers. Why is that?
I think we can look to Mr. PT Barnum for our answer, sadly."
And, in another thread, I said this...
Two weeks ago, I was convinced Trump was doing this just for personal gain and ego embellishment. Well, now I think there's a reasonable chance that he believes his own BS; Maybe he is going to run.Trump, could wreak unbridled havoc on the Republican Party - some of that havoc could be beneficial, and some of it could be unsurvivable. I saw an analysis recently that said he could stand in the OH, FL (and I think) AZ primaries, lose and then go onto run as an independent on those ballots because their sore loser laws are written with gaping loopholes. Trump as a Indy/3rd party guarantees Obama's victory. That, of course, is bad.
Trump would quite likely be a disastrous president, and certainly not any kind of orthodox conservative. BUT, he would be a heap load better than four more years of Obama. Should Trump do the undo-able and actually win the nomination (and select someone like West), I think I'd cross both fingers and vote for him.
These are hardly "defensive" comments about Donald Trump. They, however, an examination of what might happen and why it might happen. That's it.
Granted, I haven't read ALL your posts on the Trump issue. Always willing to give the benefit of the doubt. However, just from the amount of time you spent analyzing, evaluating and just pontificating on the Trump issue, its hard seeing your efforts as totally impartial.
Call me skeptical. Call me unconvinced.
After all, as you said, "Perception is reality".
Not One?
try Palin buddy. She makes trump look like a NE liberal republican.
I do find it ironic that the only possible candidate that can bring down gas prices which you say is a concern for you is the one you attack the most.
I love it! I betcha THAT ruffled Mitt’s perfectly coifed locks!
Hypocrite of the year award goes to you.
As of now trump is taking away all his support from Mitt and Newt. So I don’t have a problem with him. He is taking the voters looking for “electable” candidates that were going to Mitt or Newt.
So far the majority of conservatives haven’t fallen for his hope and change yet. If he conitnues to destory Mitt it will do us good deed.
I don’t see Trump as a factor. He is a shooting star and shooting stars tend to burn up those around them.
Is Trump working for Obama or Soros?
All this birth certificate stuff and authorship questions about Dreams from My Father is just setting the table for a big embarrassment.
There can be no proof of either. Lack of documents is not proof.
Will the whole GOP get tarred with this, making it easier for any Democrat to win?
Palin is a shitty candidate but I’d be happy to vote for her over Obama any day of the year. As far as Trump, I never said he had my vote, but at least he has the guts to tell it like it is.
and as far as Guts goes. Again Palin puts this liberal NE r”republican” to shame. Where was Mr balls Trump from 2008-2011. Oh that's right he was saying how great Obama was.
I do find it amazing that most anti-palin people support Trump. I guess they simply dislike Palin because she is a conservative and they really like a ballz liberal instead.
Im convinced that there are freepers that would rather support Obama than Trump. Unbelievable, here we have a muslim marxist that is taking this country apart brick by brick and the ONLY person willing to stand up and kick his ass, gets attacked by supposed pro-American conservatives! WTF?
