Karl Rove Now Openly Mocking Palin…
Weasel Zippers ^ | February 28, 2011

Rove represents the worst of the elitist GOP establishment.

Via NY Mag

…One week before the 2010 midterm elections, Rove took aim at Sarah Palin, questioning the wisdom of her appearance on a reality show, Sarah Palin’s Alaska, if she really wanted to be taken seriously as a presidential candidate. Palin lacked the “gravitas” to be president, went a subhead in the U.K.’s Daily Telegraph.

Rove later tried wriggling out of his comments, as well as observations he made in a German magazine that tea-partiers weren’t “sophisticated,” being unfamiliar, as Rove was, with intellectuals like the economist Friedrich August von Hayek. But Rove’s backhands weren’t accidental, nor was he the victim of outrageous tabloid reporting. When I bring up his statements about Palin during our interview, Rove says only that he wished he’d made his comments on Fox News instead—before going into a withering impersonation of Palin, recalling a scene from her TV show in which she’s fishing.

“Did you see that?” he says, adopting a high, sniveling Palin accent: “‘Holy crap! That fish hit my thigh! It hurts!’”

“How does that make us comfortable seeing her in the Oval Office?” he asks, disgusted. “You know—‘Holy crap, Putin said something ugly!’”

There were stimulus checks during the Bush years. Who complained? The temporary tax cuts were passed based on Keynesian arguments. I complained about it at the time. But around here, no one cared. Tax cuts! Yay! Nevermind that the arguments used to get them passed were later used for the massive stimulus packages that landed us in the trillion dollar hole.

The debts piled up back then, but who complained? I can still remember Brit Hume explaining it away cheerfully, that the debt to GDP ratio was totally acceptable, and that view was parroted around here.

Yeah, so now they're out of power, the economy sucks, and so now they want to reign things in. Whatever.

It won't bother me if she wins. If it comes down to Palin v Obama, I might even vote for her. It'll be a sad and pathetic day for America if those are the choices--then again, McCain v Obama was a sad and pathetic reflection on this nation.

What I really don't look forward to is Obama's second term, with a bigger mandate than he had the first time. And a disgraced, fractured, demoralized GOP.

In my own case my support in Presidential primaries has generally gone to a candidate to the right of the GOP nominee.
In 2008, Fred Thompson, in 2004, Bush, in 2000, Keyes, then Bush, in 1996, Gramm, then Keyes, then Dole, in 1992 for Buchanan and Forbes, before voting third party, in 1988, Bush, in 1984, Reagan, in 1980 leaned to Crane, then Reagan, in 1976 Reagan, then Ford, in 1972 Ashbrook, then Nixon, in 1968 Reagan. then Nixon, in 1964 Goldwater, in 1960, Goldwater, then Nixon, in 1956 Eisenhower, in 1952 Taft, then Eisenhower. In 1948 I was five, and paid little attention.

Rove didn't do that "singlehandedly".

Yes he did. He harmed her campaign significantly on her primary victory night, with no help from anyone else. What someone else might have done does not lessen the impact of his hissy fit and trashing of O'Donnell at the worst possible time with a large election night audience viewing.

Funny post. Thanks for the chuckle. Anyone I pick is doomed. So I'm trying not to pick anyone this time. I don't want to jinx them. Then again, whoever I say has NO chance usually wins, so that's sort of a reverse jinx. By that measure, Palin will win the nomination. Sad.

A candidate who runs the detailed decisions of his or her own campaign at that level is a fool. In the general election at that level the candidate is the product and the campaign manager makes all tactical decisions.

I would hope that if it comes down to Palin vs Obama that you would do better than ‘you might’ even vote for her. Good God, the country might not survive another 4 year term for Obama. If he wins again, imo, it could be GAME OVER.

I'm in NJ. My vote is meaningless. I'll definitely vote against her in the primaries, if it's worth the bother (and if she's still in the race) at that point.

In the general? I don't know. It's too awful to contemplate. As far as I'm concerned, if it comes down to Obama v Palin, it's already game over. Our de-evolution is complete.

I might go back to voting third party. The hell with all of you. Or not. I'll blow up that bridge when I come to it.

To 82 - LOL
Also, what I deplore about this day and age is one gets charged with assault and battery if one defends a woman. In a just world Rove would be minus several teeth, along with Romney and N.J.'S 'Ralph Cramden'.

Rove thinks he’s going to make millions of Jeb Bush in the future.

I will quit my job to campaign against any Bush that runs for office, especially Jeb, since he looks like his blue blooded elitist mama.

The gloves are off Rove. I’ll be seeing ya on the campaign trail lol.

Are you any kin to Charlie Sheen? You’re starting to sound a little like him.

Now that I know you need meds, you aren’t depressing me as much as you did for a while.

If the primaries are a fait accompli by the time the show hits NJ, I will. It's not worth precious time casting a pointless vote. If there is a good reason to bother, I will.

In the general, we'll see. I'm pretty sick and tired of it. And anyway, one vote is completely meaningless. Exit polls prove it.

You might enjoy my old Vanity Annotated Tolkien and the Election Cycle:

‘… But you, John Sidney, Lord of the Mark of Republican, are declared by your noble devices, and still more by the fair countenance of the House of McCain. O worthy son of John the Thrice-renowned Admiral! Why have you not come before, and as a friend? Much have I desired to see you, mightiest Senator of western lands, and especially in these latter years, to save you from the unwise and evil counsels that beset you! Is it yet too late? Despite the injuries that have been done to me, in which the men of Bush, alas! have has some part, still I would save you, and deliver you from the ruin that draws nigh inevitably, if you ride upon this road which you have taken. Indeed I alone can aid you now.’

John Sidney opened his mouth as if to speak, but he said nothing. He looked up at the face of Barack with its dark solemn eyes bent down upon him, and then to Sarah at his side; and he seemed to hesitate. Sarah made no sign; but stood silent as stone, as one waiting patiently for some call that has not yet come. The Republicans stirred at first, murmuring with approval of the words of Barack; and then they too were silent, as men spell-bound. It seemed to them that Sarah had never spoken so fair and fittingly to their lord. Rough and proud now seemed all her dealings with John. And over their hearts crept a shadow, the fear of a great danger: the end of the Republic stood in a darkness to which Sarah was driving them, while Barack stood beside a door of escape, holding it half open so that a ray of light came through. There was a heavy silence…

‘What have you to say, Maverick Senator? Will you have peace with me, and all the aid that my knowledge, founded in long years with William Ayers, can bring? Shall we make our counsels together against evil days, and repair our injuries with such good will that our estates shall both come to fairer flower than ever before?...The friendship of Barack and the power of Chicago cannot be lightly thrown aside, whatever grievances, real or fancied, may lie behind. You have won a battle but not a war – and that with help on which you cannot count again. You may find the Shadow of the Hildebeast at your own door next: it is wayward, and senseless, and has no love for Men.

‘But my lord of Arizona, am I to be called a murderer, because valiant men have fallen in battle? If you go to war, needlessly, for I did not desire it, then men will be slain. But if I am a murderer on that account, than all of House of Bush is stained with murder; for they have fought many wars, and assailed many who defied them. Yet with some they have afterwards made peace, none the worse for being politic. I say, Maverick Senator: shall we have peace and friendship, you and I? It is ours to command.’

‘We will have peace,’ said John Sidney at last thickly and with an effort. Several of the Republicans cried out gladly. John Sidney held up his hand. ‘Yes, we will have peace,’ he said, now in a clear voice, ‘we will have peace, when you and all your works have perished – and the works of your dark master to whom you would deliver us. You are a liar, Barack, and a corrupter of men’s hearts. You hold out your hand to me, and I perceive only a finger of the claw of Moscow. Cruel and cold! Even if your war on me was just – as it was not, for were you ten times as wise you would have no right to rule me and mine for your own profit as you desired – even so, what will you say of your torches in Kenya and the children that lie dead there? And they killed some 1,500 people in the riots, and burned churches in protest. When you are accused of committing incest with your children for the sport of your own Kos Kiddies, I will have peace with you and Chicago. So much for the House of McCain. A lesser son of great sires I am, but I do not need to lick your fingers. Turn elsewhither. But I fear your voice has lost its charm.’

Cheers!
