Karl Rove Now Openly Mocking Palin…
Weasel Zippers ^ | February 28, 2011

Rove represents the worst of the elitist GOP establishment.

Via NY Mag

…One week before the 2010 midterm elections, Rove took aim at Sarah Palin, questioning the wisdom of her appearance on a reality show, Sarah Palin’s Alaska, if she really wanted to be taken seriously as a presidential candidate. Palin lacked the “gravitas” to be president, went a subhead in the U.K.’s Daily Telegraph.

Rove later tried wriggling out of his comments, as well as observations he made in a German magazine that tea-partiers weren’t “sophisticated,” being unfamiliar, as Rove was, with intellectuals like the economist Friedrich August von Hayek. But Rove’s backhands weren’t accidental, nor was he the victim of outrageous tabloid reporting. When I bring up his statements about Palin during our interview, Rove says only that he wished he’d made his comments on Fox News instead—before going into a withering impersonation of Palin, recalling a scene from her TV show in which she’s fishing.

“Did you see that?” he says, adopting a high, sniveling Palin accent: “‘Holy crap! That fish hit my thigh! It hurts!’”

“How does that make us comfortable seeing her in the Oval Office?” he asks, disgusted. “You know—‘Holy crap, Putin said something ugly!’”

Whoever thought Christine O’Donnell should be a senator deserved to have their faces rubbed in it.

No kidding. No ivy league degree, not a lawyer, not a trust fund baby so she had to get loans to get through college. The temerity of the woman. Fit only to be one of the ruling class's scullery maids.

That would be the guy in charge of campaign ads

Nonsense. It would be the person in charge of the the guy in charge of the ads--the person in the ad. Jeez. Denial seemingly knows no bounds with some of you people.

Rove gets paid case to be an analyst. Previously, he was paid cash to advise Bush. What is this "team player" concept you speak of? He is for hire.

I'm surprised so many don't get it.

I continue to lose respect for Rove. Supporting another candidate is one thing; making fun of his possible opponents is not cool.

It looks petty and childish.

Nice chip on your shoulder. It's funny how class warfare and victimhood now rests so comfortably on some "conservatives'" shoulders. It's also a pathetic false choice. There are plenty of IVY league twits and ne'r-do-wells (John Kerry comes to mind). And there are self-made twits like O'Donnell as well.

The harder they come, the harder they fall. They were probably the ones in love with Rove back in the day.

My favorite von Mises book is Bureaucracy (1944). His most clearly written work, imo.

No argument there. A nice read, and not too many pages -- lol.

Thank goodness you are wrong.

Palin will win the nomination and then she will win the presidency.

The MSM has shot their wad against her. They have no ammo left and she’s beat down all their accusations. She’s gonna make a passage to India that will get mega coverage.

I can’t think of anyone else who has all the right stuff.

I don’t know who you are for, but I can shoot them down far more successfully than you can shoot down Sarah.

“How can it be divide when it is the Roves of the world attacking our most conservative candidates?”

Have you ever heard of analysis? The election is November of 2012 - that’s a long time in the future. I haven’t made up my mind. Your mind seems to be firmly made up already. Where I’m from, there are terms for folks like you.

I don’t “love” Rove, just as I don’t “love” Carville . . . both were simply masters at their craft (there might be some libs out there who blame Carville for Bush, though I doubt it).

It kind of depends on whose ox is getting gored, doesn’t it? If I have a job and am making my payments and some bank everything’s cool. If not, it’s a catastrophe. Enough people are uncomfortable now the groundswell supports massive restructuring I think.

I'm giving the GOP primary voters the benefit of the doubt by saying she won't win the nomination. I admit it's more hope than belief, though.

Nationally, I have no doubt at all that Palin would lose to Obama. The only other outcome I can see is a billionaire third party challenge, and a 3-way split, where no one gets 40%. That outcome would at least have the benefit of being entertaining and novel.

I hear you. I’m with you. Competence is always interesting. Maybe especially so in the dark arts. I’m saying the people who are the most bitter about Rove now have fallen the farthest—they were likely the most smitten with him then.

I'd suggest you make your reservations now for your stay in The Happyland PDS Rest Home. After President Palin is inaugurated, it will be difficult for you and your PDS friends to find an opening.

Well, you didn’t say who you think COULD beat Obama.

I think Sarah has the best chance of anyone currently on the horizon. Not sure what your objections are ...

He singlehandedly did significant harm to her campaign on what should have been a positive night for her.

Rove didn't do that "singlehandedly". He had a lot of help. Another allegedly conservative pundit, Krauthammer, lit off wailing about O'Donnell's choice almost immediately after her primary victory. I leave the room to fetch a beer whenever that loser comes up on Fox News.

What is this "team player" concept you speak of?

As I said, it is what Rove is not. He did not promote the Republican nominee, and continue to work for a Republican victory in Delaware, after his favored candidate lost. He's out for himself, more due to ego than to the fact that he's paid.
