Will Mitt Romney make a Presidential run in 2012? Speculation is growing after Romney made an appearance on the Tonight Show. But if the former Massachusetts Governor has Presidential dreams, he may have a hard time breaking into the public spotlight thanks to Sarah Palin who seems to be everywhere these days.
Mitt Romney: If you see me sign up for a gig on Fox News it's a sure sign I'm running for President.
Mitt Romney, on Jay Leno Wednesday, continued his coy routine on his plans for 2012, but he did get in that not so subtle jab at Sarah Palin, an official Fox contributor, who is also playing coy about her plans.
The comparisons between the two Republican frontrunners are made daily among political observers and in the battle for high profile media coverage. Palin wins hands down.
There is her book tour, her prime time interview with Barbara Walters, and who could forget the proud mom cutaways during "Dancing With the Stars." Daughter Bristol came in third.
Still, Romney, a former governor, businessman and turnaround king has intellectual heft on his side -- a widely regarded expert on the economy.
So who's a Republican to choose?
The latest poll shows Mitt Romney on top of the list of possible Presidential candidates in 2012 - squeaking by President Obama by one point. But Palin has a one-point edge over Romney in the primary, which makes many mainstream republicans crazy -- though they're often reluctant to admit it.
Mitt Romney: If someone's looking for someone to say something negative about Sarah Plain - why, that's not going to be me. I mean, did you see what she did to the Halibut the other night on her show? I'm not in for that.
The fact that hundreds of thousands of Americans did see what Palin did to the halibut on her reality show: Palin's Alaska highlights the challenge facing Romney -- though many feel his carefully crafted, deep grassroots organization will likely put him on top in the end.
Mitt Romney in 2012? (Yawn!)
We let this happen with Dole and Ford, too. No more RINOS, ever, and everything that needs to be done to make RINOS history must happen, asap and always!
Objective: Direct every military operation toward a clearly defined, decisive and attainable objective. "The ultimate military purpose of war is the destruction of the enemy's armed forces and will to fight."
Offensive: Seize, retain, and exploit the initiative. Even in defense, a military organization is expected to maintain a level of aggressiveness by patrolling and launching limited counter-offensives.
Mass: Mass the effects of overwhelming combat power at the decisive place and time.
Economy of Force: Employ all combat power available in the most effective way possible; allocate minimum essential combat power to secondary efforts.
Maneuver: Place the enemy in a position of disadvantage through the flexible application of combat power.
Unity of Command: For every objective, seek unity of command and unity of effort.
Security: Never permit the enemy to acquire unexpected advantage.
Surprise: Strike the enemy at a time or place or in a manner for which he is unprepared.
Simplicity: Prepare clear, uncomplicated plans and concise orders to ensure thorough understanding.
We would be wise to consider these principles as we wade into the 2012 election cycle.
Sorry, LSM. Mitt is DONE thanks to MittCare aka ObamaCare trial run. I consider Mitt to be barely better than obama. And I’m not alone...
“If Romney is the 2012 choice of the GOP, it?s a shoe in for democrats to continue destroying America and the efforts of the tea party will be wasted.”
That’s true whether the obamanation or MittCare Romney wins...
I am still predicting that if Pence runs,he will win. There is just something about him. We all just have to wait and see how he campaigns. I would rather see Sarah wind up elsewhere in the cabinet.Maybe a Senior Advisor?
Oh yeah.............that’s the ticket. /s
Almost nobody has ever heard of Pence, Congress Critters make lousy presidents and most who try to run, lose. Then there’s Newtie, who has so much personal and political baggage ( not to mention the fact that he is a weasel, a CINO, and cuddles up to any far lefty [Hillary, Bill, Pelosi] and does their bidding ), he makes Hillary Clinton look reasonable.
If that is really your idea of a winning ticket and a great team for America, you really need to learn more about those whom you favor.
I like Rep. Mike Pence a lot, but, as history has shown us time and time again, it’s nearly impossible to win a Presidential race from the House of Representatives. Pence would be smart to run for Indiana Governor in ‘12, be a governor for awhile, and then, run for POTUS later. ‘12 isn’t Pence’s time to run for POTUS, unfortunately.
Right now,i have it narrowed down to five candidates(assuming they all run) Pawlenty,Palin,Pence,Daniels and Thune. Anyone else agree?
Who? Mitt? No.
Pence/Gingrich isn’t my first choice. It’s just one of many combinations. Pence would have a great chance being he is from the Rust Belt. and no President can win without those states. But it will be exciting if both Pence and Thune run.
Um, I’m a political junkie, and I don’t have Pence on my radar. So: Really?
DeMint?
Who? Why don’t we just have a lottery?
Here is the problem with Palin... right now, her ideas are very broad. It’s easy to stand up in front of a microphone and declare, “The government is spending too much of our money!” and everyone cheers. But when the election gets closer, that won’t be enough.
In other words, eventually people will want to know details. They are going to want to know specifics. They will want to know what she would cut, how much, when, and why? Voters would want to know her ideas on Afghanistan and Iraq. They would want to know her feelings on China and Russia, and the European debt crisis. What will she do to get the housing market to recover? For unemployment to drop?
Those are not easy questions to answer. And in order to be elected, she not only has to answer better than the other Republican challengers, but better than Obama.
It is a long road to the White House and even the most well oiled vehicles break down before getting there.
Five dwarves.
I have been watching Pence and Thune whenever they make an appearance on Fox News(for quite some time). They come on as very intelligent and know what they are talking about during interviews. Then compare that to Obama who always wanders off to left field! Lets just see what happens.Hey, at least Pence and Thune DONT NEED A TELEPROMPTER!
