Sarah Palin for President!
The Rolla Daily News ^ | November 22, 2010 | Dave Weinbaum, GateHouse News Service

Rolla, Mo. — Sometimes I start my radio show by saying two words. After saying them, I think I hear coffee mugs and juice glasses splatter across kitchen floors all over mid-Missouri. If I could work out a deal with the local Wal-Marts on plates, glasses and mugs, we could make a fortune.

Those words? SARAH PALIN.

By my reading of America, Governor Palin brings out such a hate/love response that it deserves some adult comment and analysis, something not attainable from the MSM and snobby effete on all sides.

Since John McCain recruited Governor Palin as his VP, placing her on the international stage, Sarah and her family have dominated more than a few news cycles.

Those who can’t shepherd the herd tend to want to bar-b-q those who can

After Palin was released to speak to America, the wheels have come off the logic of her very existence. If you want to know who liberals fear most, add up their attacks and multiply by their maliciousness, piling on points for assaults on her children, grandchild and spouse. Sarah Palin and family are the winners of the most bashed family in America for the past two years—and it’s growing.

Yet, she doesn’t just get nailed by the left.

Who needs enemies when you have friends like George Will, Karl Rove, Mona Charon, George W. Bush and his mom Barbara?

Babs recently told Larry King that Palin should “stay in Alaska.” If Mrs. Bush and husband George hadn’t ridden the coattails of another dissed conservative, whose wife Nancy couldn’t stand Bab’s premature white hair, they may have been exiled to Texas. After thumping Bush in the primaries, this underated conservative plucked Bush senior as his VP. Barbara went to DC as wife of the VP, then first lady of the USA—for one term.

If Republicans had used some of their energy to vet the current Socialist in Chief, the country wouldn’t be in the fix it is now.

Despite the animosity toward Sarah, there seems to be a ground-swelling of popularity for Palin rising up from independents, women, conservatives, constitutionalists and Obama’s main constituency, youths. As evidence, Bristol Palin is on the brink of winning Dancing With the Stars, not with her superior hip-hopping, but with the votes of young TV watchers, a vote I consider as sympathetic to Mom.

Palin’s gig as political analyst on Fox news has honed her interviewing ability and sharpened her views. Plus the millions that watch her can’t hurt as she helps Fox move further ahead of what little competition there is left.

Sarah Palin’s Alaska TV show on the obscure TLC Network drew a record five million viewers, while if her second book does as much for her image as her first book, then you may soon see a stark reversal in the polling data.

By-the-way, who else has written two autobiographies with almost no achievements when he wrote them? For those in Doomore, that would be President Barack Hussein Obama.

Here’s what some can’t stand about Governor Palin:

• She’s pro life—Instead of aborting a downs syndrome baby, she cherishes him and her other four kids. • She’s pro guns. She hunts and fishes. • She’s got looks. She was Miss Wasilla and finished second in the Miss Alaska contest. • She was captain on her high school state championship basketball team. • She has a happy marriage. • She didn’t go to an Ivy League school. She went to several colleges before graduating, having to work when tuition wasn’t available. • She was a reporter on a local TV station. • She’s not from either left coast.

Ah, but if you pinhole her from the above as her only attributes, you ignore Palin’s 18-year political career, thus far:

• Worked in her family's fishing business. • A two-term stint as city council woman, 1992-1996 • Two terms as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, 1996-2002. • As Mayor she was in charge of the Wasilla Police Department. • As Mayor she cut property taxes by 75%. • Palin was reelected Mayor by a vote of 909 to 292. • Eliminated small business inventory taxes. • Eliminated business renewal fees. • Cut the real estate property tax mil levy each year in office. • Elected President of Alaska’s Mayoral conference. • Lost in her run for Lieutenant Governor of Alaska • Governor Frank Murkowski appointed Palin to the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission in 2003. • Resigned after finding unethical conduct by two Republicans with a conflict of interest. She accused them formally and after an investigation, both resigned, one paying a record fine. • Palin was elected Alaska’s Governor by defeating then Governor Murkowski in the Republican primary and former Democratic Governor, Tony Knowles. She was 42 and Alaska’s first female Governor. • Sarah sold the governor’s jet for $2.1 million.

Jedediah Bila points out the following in her recent column about Sarah’s stint as Governor.: • Palin enacted the Alaska Gasline Inducement act, the largest infrastructure project in American history. • Palin opened up drilling for oil and gas at Point Thomson. • Governor Palin reduced earmark requests by 80%. • She established Alaska’s Petroleum Integrity Office. • Palin placed the state checkbook online. • She fired the governor’s chef. • Governor Palin served as Vice Chair of the National Governors Association Natural Resource Commission • Sarah’s 2010 budget was one billion dollars less than previous Governor’s Murkowski’s 2007 budget. • Palin signed ACES, Alaska’s clear and equitable Share bill, encouraging development. It also has Alaskans sharing in the oil profits. • Governor Palin experienced the last presidential campaign although one she and McCain lost.

At the time Sarah was asked to be McCain’s VP, her popularity was 68%. When she resigned after she was besieged by daily false Dem accusations, she still maintained a 54% popularity rating with Alaskans.

Don’t forget to pack your courage for your journey to greatness.

There was once a man born in a small Midwest town who was a jock, then a sports reporter. He graduated from a little known small college, then matriculated to the west coast. He achieved some success as an actor and spent years publicizing our war effort for the Army. Then he headed his union and decided to take a stab at politics. Converting from Democrat to Republican, he served two terms as Governor of California.

When he ran for president he was told he wasn’t smart enough. He was called a “B” actor. He was eight points behind his opponent in the 1980 race. Then they held the one and only debate after which the polls tightened and the election became “too close to call.”

Ronald Reagan beat Jimmy Carter by almost 10 points, making Carter a one-termer. After making much progress economically and foreign policy-wise, Reagan beat Walter Mondale like a drum, winning all but one state in the 1984 presidential race. He’s considered by most to be one of America’s greatest presidents.

I find the parallels between the two remarkable, but Palin must fight one monster Reagan never had to deal with.

Governor Palin is an attractive woman.

Is it too late for Sarah to get a sex change operation?

If she doesn’t, do I think Sarah Palin can beat Barack Obama in 2012?

You Betcha!

At the risk of being flamed, I agree with Ann Coulter. Sarah needs about 5 more years of deep study of the American founding fathers to give her the breadth of Federal administration theory we need in a President. Why hurry her term? If she has the qualities, she will be really ready by then.

You (and Ann) might be right but WE don’t have five years to spare. We need her (or someone like her) in 2012! Right now I don’t see anybody who could fill that bill... do you?

Better as the new Chairman of the RNC; better yet as the Chairman of the still-to-be-founded Tea Party party’s National Committee.

Ann is a has been and has burned her bridges. Notice FR used to have pics of her on nearly every post and now it’s, Ann who? I don’t see Ann offering up anyone with the “proper education” so until she does, she should keep quiet. America doesn’t have 5 years. We don’t have the two years left in the usurper’s term.

"Right now I don’t see anybody who could fill that bill... do you?"

Well, in terms of real understanding and depth, Chris Christie (although he recognizes that he should tend to business in NJ), Michelle Bachman (although she has not made noises about it), and even John Boehner have the potential. Sarah is just a bit light, but has terrific possibility. My concern is that the left will encourage us to push her out there just to have her slammed in the press and ultimately pull a McCain, Reid, Pelosi, Murkowski on us.

Great idea. Although I think it was an absolute stroke of genius that the Tea Party did not formally strike off in a 3 party direction. That devastated the Ds. The voice of the Tea Party was heard much more clearly because they pulled a Soros and became the "Shadow Party", the real movers of the voting public. Why spoil it with a formation and divide the Rs down. Just reform them from the inside out until we are the party of Lincoln, once again.

Ann is not a “has been” as far as I’m concerned. She pulled an odd stunt by speaking to the homosexual crowd, but tended to be somewhat more gutsy with them than I thought she would be. While I wish that she would come out and say, “Homosexuality is wrong and I won’t dignify it by attending a meeting of those who want it respected.” she still has a pretty good bite on the Libs. Can’t get it all in one person.

At the risk of being flamed...

Fire up the coals, boys. I've got a live one here.

Sarah needs about 5 more years of deep study of the American founding fathers to give her the breadth of Federal administration theory we need in a President.

Five years of "deep" study, eh? Name me ONE president who assumed the office with the degree of education on "Federal Administration Theory" which you're demanding of Sarah Palin. Just one will do.

Frankly, your comment is such a naked attempt to impugn Palin's intelligence and experience, that it's hardly worth rebutting, but you asked for it.

Here's a suggestion for all of you Concern Trolls and political operatives who are earning your pay on Sarah Palin threads at Free Republic:

Lose the worn out attack points, and come up with some substantive arguments against a Palin presidency. Your schtick has become completely transparent.

Wow, a newbie and possible troll announcing that Ann Coulter is a “has been”.

Aw, bgill is alright.

I might not call Ann Coulter a "has been", but she's definitely lost me as a fan, after the way she put Sarah down.

I don't know what gets in to some right-of-center commentators in the media. There simply is no logical reason for any of them to parrot the left's slanderous attack points against Sarah. It's destructive, and divisive. I could see if they were talking down some politician who has done real harm or damage to the nation, or someone who has proven themselves to be a RINO sell-out.

Sarah's neither of those things. Listen carefully to her detractors, and all you hear is hot air escaping. There's no "there", there. No criticisms of substance. Just easily debunked, phony ordnance.

Hearing a high profile commentator such as Ann Coulter go negative on Sarah Palin now makes me suspect the commentator - not Sarah.

I heard they went from free pizza from Pizza Uno, to Little Cesar's to Ci-Ci’s to Papa Murphy's Take & Bake to Totino’s Pizza Rolls and now it's whatever they can find in the dumpster at the Chinese Buffet.
