At a reception and dinner attended by fifty conservative movers and shakers, Sarah Palin implicitly compared herself to President Ronald Reagan. At the same time she suggested that she is mulling a Presidential run in 2012.
According to Politico:
"Speaking to a group of well-connected Republicans at a private dinner in Florida this week, Sarah Palin implicitly addressed questions about her own electability by noting that critics also said Ronald Reagan couldn't win in 1980, three attendees told POLITICO.
"Palin, at an event organized by the conservative magazine Newsmax, told the right-wing crowd that those who don't have the same convictions will always say a true conservative can't win.
"Pointing out that the knock on Reagan was that he was also too far to the right, the former Alaska governor repeatedly invoked the 40th president and conservative icon, at one point citing the quotation he was most fond of: that America is a "shining city on a hill."
"'I think she sees herself as heir to Reagan,' said one attendee."
While just about every Republican politician invokes Ronald Reagan, just as Democrats like to invoke John Kennedy or Franklin Roosevelt, Sarah Palin's implicit suggestion that she is the heir or even the second coming of Ronald Reagan would seem somewhat presumptuous, at least at first glance.
There are some parallels. Like Reagan, Palin was a state governor. Like Reagan, a large percentage of the liberal intelligentsia has labeled her, mistakenly, as somewhat dim. Like Reagan, she is beloved by many, hated by many more. Like Reagan, Palin is something of a media star.
There are differences, of course...

I still have one of those still frames in my memory of standing in the lunch line sing it. The kicker is we were 6-7 years old. :)
LOL!
You didn't get the memo, did you? The "quitter" meme was fully discredited a long time ago.
You know what I'm sick of? Being called names because I happen to like a candidate.
Who do you like for our next President? Shall we all tag you with a catchy little demeaning name just because that's your candidate of choice?
I like certain things Bush did and certain things Palin does. That makes me neither a "bot" nor a "Palin messiah worshiper". It just makes me a person with the freedom to choose my own candidate
If you ask me, it's those that don't like these people that go over the top in the attacks. They seek out posted news articles and feel the need to reply on those threads with adhominen attacks.
I find it hard to believe that those who claim to hold dear our Constitution, feel the need to ridicule a person for exercising their right to choose their own candidate.
I suppose you'd now say I'm just thinking emotionally. The problem is I, and many others, long ago listed our rationale for supporting Palin but it fell on deaf ears as it was much more fun to just call us cutesy little names.
Your point? I don't do that either.
Whoa. Easy there, Kimba.
Reagan accomplished more and better things in his 8 years as president than any other in his century. I like Palin, but she's first got to win, then be president for 8 years, and then do the kind of thing RR did, which was to revive this country for an entire generation.
The pissy 1%ers on FR do forget that he did some very non-conservative things prior to his presidency and even some during his presidency, but then they're a bunch of gnat brained fools who have accomplished little in their own lives so they delight in tearing down.
Sarah needs your help here. Don’t abandon her.
Sarah Palin has normal kids and married only one time!
Ronald Reagan is no Sarah Palin,
Sarah Palin has normal kids and married only one time!
Never!
I don't want to end up in a 2012 rendition of the below picture.
Again? You've seen them posted here and other places dozens of times. Think you can get the trained seal to jump through the hoop again, just to convince you of something you already know? You really are a thick one, aren't you?
Do yourself a few favors:
1) Admit that you're too dense to remember having seen the remarkable list of things that Sarah did in her first half-term as Governor that two prior 2-term Guv's tried and failed at.
2) Admit that no matter how many times you are shown this amazing list, and the fact that Sarah did all this AND had a baby AND ran for VP, you'll wake up tomorrow somehow mysteriously "ignorant" of it all over again.
] 3) Admit that it really doesn't matter if you remember or not, because with or without your simple-minded approval or inneffectual aid, Sarah remains the most powerful force in politicas today; even moreso than the president.
4) Acknowledge that Sarah will be president in 2012 despite the opposition you feel so strongly but cannot support with facts because "you just can't remember."
Then you won't keep soiling yourself in public by repeatedly asking the same people to keep posting the same answers over and over as though this makes you seem intelligent or even clever: it does not. You just sound like a mewling, drooling imbecile with an axe to grind but, unfortunately, with the attention span of a mushy grape.
That's why nobody cares what you say. I'll make a compromise with you: here's a detail... You Are An Unusually Useless Tool.
Now go get the wipes, clean off your naughty little bottom, and try not to crap yourself in public again, n'kay? It's really sad. Think of the children...
;-/
What a petulant little child you are. I ask one question in my #170, and you respond with an unwarranted, personal attack filled with nothing but ignorance and insults.
I’m sure Sarah would really approve of your vitriol and foul attitude, have you ever seen her respond to a politely posed question like that?
You and your kind do her more harm than good. You’re nothing but a termite in the lumberyard of her candidacy.
I want extra credit for this...

Have a nice little paper cup with pills in it, in my padded room.
Giggle. Drool.
Pick at my navel. Giggle.
Don't I sound clever? Drooling.
Giggle.

Have a good day, sir or madam.
