Ive poked around the California Senate race for the last several days, in preparation for a piece in the forthcoming National Review. And I discovered, or relearned, something I thought was kind of interesting. You know how many of our band blasted Palin for anointing Christine ODonnell in the Delaware Senate race, disregarding viability (or so it appeared)? Well, you recall that the GOP Senate primary in California featured three contestants: Carly Fiorina (the ex-CEO and eventual winner), Tom Campbell (the former congressman who is a moderate, basically), and Chuck DeVore (the assemblyman who is a true-blue, four-square conservative). Palin endorsed Fiorina, describing her as the conservative who has the potential to beat Californias liberal senator, Barbara Boxer, in November. (There should not be a comma after senator: because DiFis a liberal too!) (If a little less obnoxious about it than Boxer.) (Who is not less obnoxious?) (Remember when the late James J. Kilpatrick used to refer to Howard Metzenbaum, in his columns, as Senator Obnoxious (D., Ohio)?)
Of course, it is said that Palin likes to endorse women, too mama grizzlies and all that. So who knows . . .
P.S. Dont bet the ranch on Carly, v. Boxer, but dont bet the ranch against her either. Hows that for firm prognostication?
P.P.S. Some GOP-ers, and anti-Boxerites, are anguished that Fiorina is running a conservative campaign, such as you could run in a Republican primary. The response of Carlys people is, essentially, What can you do? They say were running a conservative campaign. The truth is, were running a conservative candidate. Shes pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, pro-free markets. Again, whatre you gonna do? Very interesting. Fiorina has five weeks in which to persuade. She has some work to do. But then, shes not afraid of hard work. And her election would be really important a boon to the cause of conservatism. It would be sweet to oust Boxer, yes; but it would also be sweet to install Fiorina. Republicans and conservatives across the nation should be more jazzed about this race more concerned with it than I sense they are. Just my two cents . . .
What’s the eye opening commentary here?
Wasn’t Nordlinger outed as an islamist apologist recently”
That Carly is more conservative than people here think she is...
Yes, but so was Pat and Ron and we see their opinions here all the time...
NO! NO! WAIT! MY APOLOGIES! MY MISTAKE!
Dear Lord, help us to defeat the rodent that occupies Boxer's brain.
Who were you thinking of?
Actually I was thinking of Grover Norquist, not Nordlinger.
Those Viking spawn's names all sound alike. (If they were only protecting their homeland now).
That Carly actually “is” conservative and “is” running a conservatives campaign and is not backing away from it....Palin picked the right person with the best chance and who is conservative as well.....
Carly is certainly far more conservative than Boxer.
Boxer has an ACU rating of 0.
I will be casting my vote for Fiorina and Whitman on November 2nd.
Over the weekend, The San Francisco Chronical refused to endorse Boxer. They are taking no side.

That is just not a very good score at all.
Campbell was an out and out liberal and was one of the main reasons Palin endorsed Carly to ensure that Campbell would not win the primary.
Palin picked the right person with the best chance and who is conservative as well.....
Carly needs to show Boxer as an enabler of the Pelosi-Reid agenda, Obamacare, Cap & Trade, and further stimulus spending. Forget trying to show what a pompous ego-centric person she is and focus on the real goal, stopping the Obama agenda. The Central Valley water ads don’t help Carly in SF or LA and are a waste of money. Carly will win the Central Valley big time.
The media wants voters to see this election as a cat fight. They should see it as a fight against a big government agenda.
