South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint is out with a fundraising pitch that goes after his party for conducting "business as usual."
DeMint is blasting Republicans who, in a closed-door meeting on Wednesday, voted to allow Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski to retain her leadership position on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
"It was bad enough to watch my colleagues work to support [Murkowski] in the primary after she had built a record of betraying conservatives principles," DeMint wrote Saturday in an e-mail to supporters of his PAC, Senate Conservatives Fund. "But watching them back her after she left the party and launched a campaign against the Republican nominee was more than I could bear."
DeMint has clashed with his party establishment's leaders this election cycle, as he's backed staunchly conservative candidates over the sometimes more moderate GOP-backed ones.
Murkowski lost to attorney Joe Miller last month in her state's primary. Miller had DeMint's backing as well as that of the Tea Party movement. Earlier this month, Murkowski announced she would mount a write-in bid to retain her Senate seat. Sarah Palin and the Tea Party Express group condemned the move, and the Republican Party establishment said it would stand by Miller as the party's nominee.
The decision not to remove Murkowski from the top position surprised many in the political world given that the GOP has now backed her opponent...

I agree. It’s the Little Big Horn all over again. Americans have had it with “moderate” RINOs who bend over for the DemocRATS every time.
“DeMint is blasting Republicans who, in a closed-door meeting on Wednesday, voted to allow Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski to retain her leadership position on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.”
I’m sorry, but the prospect of a third party revolt is getting more and more possible in my book. Wh the (*&(*& do these RINOs think they are? Murkowski is an insult and these yahoos are so far out of touch they really think that we aren’t serious.
Demint said on Greta V last night he is not saying no to a run...
The RINOs give every indication of having developed Stockholm Syndrome. Time for some intervention.
Has anyone named names yet?
Has anyone named names yet?
She is attacking the Republican candidate selected by the will of the people in Alaska and she doesn’t lose her chairmanship?? Get her out of there. These Rinos will be driven into a third party just like she was. There is a revolution in the Republican party and Rinos are losing it fast. Good for Demint. I thought he was hiding .
All of this doesn’t matter.
Murkowski is not going to be returning to the U.S. Senate.
She is still Senator and should be keep her seat and assignments.
re #6
good post!
Even though she won’t accept defeat and the verdict of the voters? Even if she’s poisoning the well for the party’s real nominee? Do you think that like the Kennedys, that certain families own their seat?
She is still the Senator and it is still her seat.
People should get bothered over things that really matter.
Let's see, how would Murkowski's position on Natural Resources Committee be involved in that fraud?
Will her position help her to damage Republicans in the Alaska Senate race?
You have a point, but there is also the matter of Party discipline. She has essentially dissed her Party by pursuing the write-in campaign and flirting with a third party.
I’ve seen this twice now....the best ever HBO presentation...should be a requirement in every school in America! Even this opening music stirs my soul.
No, she should not. When she chooses to run opposing the legitimate GOP nominee in the general election she forfiets the right to sit on any committee for the party. Or would if not for Republicans being driven by emotion rather then honor.
And you are wrong you know. It does matter. I have a feeling Miller isn’t going to be so willing to go along with th people who backed her in this. And if we get a list of their names, several more may be added to the primary list to take out. Right now we can only hazard a guess about a few, there were likely others we aren’t aware of and that’s why they won’t make the votes public. Because it does matter and they know it.
