Meghan McCain, the chatty daughter of 2008 Republican presidential nominee John McCain, says she joining up with "team Romney" for the 2012 campaign for the White House. At least, that's her leaning at this early stage.
McCain, 25, told NBC "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno she "is so sick and tired of this us-versus-them mentality" in politics. "I just want a candidate that's going to stop being so versus them. So right now I am team Romney."
In 2008, Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, was a rival who clearly got under the skin of Sen. McCain in the early stages of the Republican campaign when both competed for the nomination. Once McCain emerged as presumed GOP nominee, Romney got on board and received some consideration as a vice presidential running mate.
That honor went to then-Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. When Meghan McCain learned of the pick, she told Leno she panicked and cried on the way to the announcement, according to a CNN report. "I remember being on stage and distinctly thinking, 'God, let her not have any skeletons in the closet.' "
Meghan McCain was on the late-night show to promote her book, "Dirty Sexy Politics," a tome in which she describes Palin as a "time bomb."
Romney is raising money and has made no secret of his intention to run for president again in 2012. Of course, many pundits think Palin is on the same track.

Yep...that seals his fate in my eyes....NO ROMNEY in 2012
She’s like a younger version of Anita Ekberg...apologies to Anita..
Meghan - go make a movie in Italia or something or better yet - how about the Kosovo film world where they really “appreciate” shall we say “plump” girls like you.
I am thrilled to see only ONE moderately supportive post for the MITTard.
If you think Romney is really good on economics see Romney-Care and amnesty. Gawd what a tragedy that people think he is a fiscal conservative.
This pleases me.
#4- exactly. Romney is right up her alley then.
#41, geez
Even the lady in blue with the oh-so-cool peirced tongue thinks she’s a ‘tard. lol.
I swear these idiots are getting impossible to parody.
*snort* How fitting because nea=ither of them has a chance of succeeding in their persuits.
I take it you never heard of Romney Care???
Or are you just a closet liberal?
This is what happens when you listen to your father. You too become a worthless inside the beltway hack politician that no one has an ounce of respect for. Welcome to the club you chubby dope.
Funny she should say that as her claim to fame has been her being "versus" Sarah Palin and the Tea Party...
I was thinking the very same thing. She is obviously one of those very tolerant people who just can't tolerate people who aren't tolerant like themselves. Intolerable.
“Instead of focusing on hard-hitting policy issues (the type of stuff that endears her to us), she just spoke in political generalities. It actually made me sour on her a little.”
This was the identical run up to the 2000 Election, with George W Bush running around in 98 and 99 giving the same bland speech where he gave no real hard hitting policy, just generalities.
The observations I would make are that:
1. She is running.
2. Today’s focal point issues will likely not be the same focal point issues come 2012. i.e. the economy will likely have begun to substantially recovered by ‘12, and making policy pronouncements today is to pigeon-hole yourself as being as “follower on this issue.”
There is no one who can tell you what the world looks like in two years. There are a lot of major corporations raising huge money in the bond market right now. Rates are dirt cheap, and that money is eventually going to be invested in either buying other companies, building out their own companies, or some combination of both. That is going to result in jobs and economic improvement. And with divided government coming, businesses are going to take their feet off of the brakes.
Looking ahead, I would GUESS that the main issues in the next election will be the 4 I’s, Interest Rates out of control, Inflation out of control, Iran and Israel. People will be working again and making money, just not enough to buy the new higher priced groceries. So coming out today for huge tax cuts at that point may be cast as fiscal recklessness.
Of course that’s just a guess....
Well, then, anything ugly she has to say about Palin is suspect, immediately.
Mitt Romney is a mayonnaise sandwich on white bread.....
and Meghan wears a Keffiyeh and thinks it’s “fashionable”.
idiots
