CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- More than 50 employers are expected to participate in a job fair at the University of Charleston on Thursday.
The fair will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Geary Student Union. Registration will be in the ballroom on the third floor. The fair will be on the second and third floors.
Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., will host the event. She is expected to address the participants shortly after 9 a.m.
Capito's office said job seekers are invited to come and connect with employers who are hiring or plan to hire in the near future. In addition to the participating businesses, career counselors will be on hand to review resumes and offer advice on how to prepare for a job interview.
"All of us have been affected in some way by the recent economic downturn, and many of us know a friend or family member who has lost a job," Capito said. "The purpose of this job fair is to connect job seekers with job creators in hopes that we can get West Virginians working again. Given the competitiveness of the job market, I think it's important to make sure applicants are as prepared as possible. That's why we're providing free advice on resume writing and interviewing skills," said Capito, a former career counselor.
