Given that a huge percentage of these barbarians have declared war on us (and most of the rest remain silent or rejoice at our destruction in secret) that’s just plain old common sense, Alaska style.
Political Correctness:

Also, the fact that no Islamic organization came out in public and denounced terrorism should not be overlooked as we bend over backwards to show Muslims how tolerant we are.

I hope it is divergent from “elite” (BTW, what the hell does “elite” mean and who named them that?) opinion. It needs to be. She’s speaking the truth on this issue. She understands that we are AT WAR with Islam. Those who ignore that fact are destined to be killed as infidels or become dhimmi’s.
An easy thing to do, as the Jewish voting block in New York is amongst the largest and also the wealthiest in the city, with many giving him support. Pissing off Muslims in NYC is not as "ballsy" as you may think.
Bloomberg doesn't have to rely on campaign contributions from ANYONE, and has no desire to waste his time "stopping a mosque" as any attempt to do so would be in violation of US civil rights law, unless zoning for the area were changed without the intent being to keep out a mosque. The city already spends millions defending itself from lawsuits every year, and picking a high profile fight like this would only make things worse.
I am the farthest thing from being part of a so-called elite, but still want somebody with competance and leadership skills who can articulate their message above and beyond the masses and the mediots. "Ordinary people" don't usually have these, and Sarah (who is NOT ordinary, just a mediocre public figure) does not.
We don't really have an elite in this country in the classical sense, btw. Just a bunch of self-important bourgeois douchebags who think just because they are on television that they are "important." The fact that such fools obsess over Sarah Palin just shows you how un-Elite and arriviste they are.
It sounds like you are not a big Sarah fan. Oh well [shrug] that's what makes horse races. I see Sarah as very much a real person who has run a business and served in executive positions at multiple levels. I think she understands the world better than many in Washington. I think she's smart enough not to think that she can tell me how to live me life. She wouldn't have a clue -- and she knows it. She is, for me, very far from being an "elitest", which is one reason why I like her.

Let's leave "the People versus the Powerful" to the Dems. What we really have in this country, and have for my most of my lifetime (I was born in 1976) has been a "conflict" between the Left-bourgeoisie and a Right-bourgeoisie. Of course, with the importation of millions of poor and working class folks from south of the border, this dynamic could likely change.

I don’t care to tolerate murderers in our midst. Islam is a political philosophy with religious excuses to underpin it.
